It is an honor to serve the members of the Illinois Wing. This is an exciting time for us to be in CAP. The announcement of CAP being recognized as part of the USAF Total Force has opened doors for us and new missions. The use of advanced technologies like GEIIP, Airborne Repeaters and Photo Reconnaissance has leveraged our use with partner agencies. Even legacy technologies such as HF (High Frequency) radio operations are of great need during disaster operations. Who has this capability and knowledge? You guessed and our partners need it. Our missions are even opening up to more members through the use of simulations and UAVs (Unmanned Aerial Vehicles). I am really excited about the use of integrating flight simulation within our training scenarios. Through the use of simulated aircraft in our exercises, we can multiply our training effort with minimal cost involved. The key is that we still fly our aircraft, but use simulations to add additional aircraft to the mission operations. The use of UAVs will allow more members that are not active in flight crews to participate in flight activities. We have been chosen to beta test UAV operations, training will begin in the near future. With all of this activity and visibility, we need to do things right; not most of the time, but all of the time. Therefore, I am asking that we all pay attention to the details. Sound familiar, excellence in all we do? We are one CAP, not islands of excellence. We are a unified organization that answers the call when needed. Please, let's work together and show others why they should want to be a part of this great group of professionals. We have a 75 year anniversary this year, let us all demonstrate the pride in our achievements and the impact we will make on the future.

What Skills Does a person Need at Illinois Wing?

At Illinois Wing, specify the abilities and skills that a person needs in order to carry out the specified job duties. Each competency has five to ten behavioral assertions that can be observed, each with a corresponding performance level (from one to five) that is required for a particular job.

  1. Training and development: The process of improving the job performance of an individual or group through structured and planned training sessions.
  2. Communication Skills: Communication skills are your ability to share or understand information, ideas, and feelings successfully.
  3. Leadership: Knowledge of and ability to employ effective strategies that motivate and guide other members within our business to achieve optimum results.
  4. Customer Service: Customer service is the provision of service to customers before, during and after a purchase. The perception of success of such interactions is dependent on employees "who can adjust themselves to the personality of the guest". Customer service concerns the priority an organization assigns to customer service relative to components such as product innovation and pricing. In this sense, an organization that values good customer service may spend more money in training employees than the average organization or may proactively interview customers for feedback. From the point of view of an overall sales process engineering effort, customer service plays an important role in an organization's ability to generate income and revenue. From that perspective, customer service should be included as part of an overall approach to systematic improvement. One good customer service experience can change the entire perception a customer holds towards the organization.
  5. Presentation: Presentation conveys information from a speaker to an audience. Presentations are typically demonstrations, introduction, lecture, or speech meant to inform, persuade, inspire, motivate, build goodwill, or present a new idea/product.
