Kid Power inspires youth leadership by promoting academic advancement, physical and emotional wellness, and positive civic engagement in underserved communities throughout the District of Columbia. Kid Power embraces youth voice and believes that every young person can become an informed and engaged advocate for change in their own lives and in their communities. Educators Max Skolnik and Caroline Sholl founded Kid Power in March 2002 and initiated programs in October 2003. In 2008 and 2011, respectively, Kid Power completed the acquisitions of Linking Communities for Educational Success and Facilitating Leadership in Youth, non-profits that worked with East-of-the-River youth. In 2009, Kid Power was selected by E St. Development to manage a large community space in the future Engine Co. 13 facility in SW DC. Currently, Kid Power currently provides free after-school and summer programs for 350 350 youth throughout the District of Columbia. In 2012, Andria Hollis succeeded Founder Max Skolnik as the Executive Director.
