Knie Appliance & TV Inc. is a family owned and operated business established by Charles & Eileen Knie in 1946, in Polo, IL. The business operated out of a single car garage providing Appliance Sales and Service and radio repair. Eventually Charles Knie, himself, began building a new store (that's right from the laying of the cement blocks, to the plumbing and wiring of the building!) to provide more space for all the emerging products entering the market. Products which to us today seem ordinary, but at the time, were unheard of: Home 'Stereo' equipment, Color TVs, Dishwashers, Microwave Ovens well you get the idea! As the Knie family grew, so did the business. In 1973, the Knie Family opened their first store in downtown Sterling, IL. After 30 years at that location, the business moved to their current location, 3614 East Lincolnway, Sterling, IL. This new and much larger facility allowed Knies the ability to offer a greater selection of products. In addition to the Appliances and Electronics already being sold, Living Room Furniture and an expanded line of Mattresses were added. The Sterling 'SuperStore' was doubled in size, again, in 2006 with the addition of an Ashley Furniture HomeStore. The complete line of Ashley Furniture and home accessories was added to an already impressive line of products including: Appliances from Maytag, Whirlpool, KitchenAid, Jenn-Air, Amana, Frigidaire, Electrolux, and Danby; Electronics from Sony, LG and Samsung; Mattresses from Simmons and Tempur-Pedic; and Furniture from Ashley, England and Eagle.
