MMAS is a volunteer organization; there are only three paid staff member - two are part time. Our actors, set builders, backstage and technical people are all volunteers; also all the individuals who work the ticket office and concession area for every performance. Volunteers are used in the office, at the arts festival and plan our annual gala. In 2011, volunteers gave almost 16,000 hours to MMAS. MMAS is a vibrant, contributing member of the community. Last year, we gave away 378 tickets to local Councils on Aging and to other non-profit organizations such as the Rotary Club, Women of Today and numerous church and school groups for their own fundraising efforts. Annually, MMAS gives several thousand dollars in scholarship funds to college students studying the arts. Since 2009, a Mansfield High School Art History class has used our theater as its classroom space - rent free - saving the school district more than $20,000 annually. For the last two years, MMAS has worked with The Education Cooperative (TEC) in their learning and vocational program which is for students with moderate development delays. The TEC students help with mailings, organizing supplies, and general office tasks. And in 2012, MMAS established an internship program with local colleges and universities to offer hands-on experience in set design, theater tech and working in an art gallery.
