Job Description The Civilian Complaint Review Board (CCRB) is an independent agency charged with investigating and mediating complaints which members of the public file against New York City police officers involving the use of excessive or unnecessary force, abuse of authority, discourtesy or the use of offensive language. The Board which governs the CCRB consists of 15 members, with five members appointed by the Mayor, five members appointed by the NYC City Council, three designated by the Police Commissioner, one appointed by the Public Advocate, and the Chair is appointed jointly by the Mayor and City Council. The Executive Director is responsible for the day-to-day operations of the agency.
