New Kingdom Pediatrics maintains a commitment to a Health Care Home model for children with developmental, behavioral, emotional, and mental health conditions. The National Institute of Mental Health and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention recognize an incidence rate of approximately 20% for pediatric mental/behavioral health, and an 18-year prevalence of almost 50%. Primary care physicians receive adequate and appropriate training to care for the least severely affected patients within this population (the bottom 10-20%), and child psychiatrists assume the responsibility for caring for the most severely affected (the top 10-20%). The staff at New Kingdom Pediatrics has the training and expertise to provide comprehensive and quality care to the "middle tier" - those children perhaps more complicated than is comfortable for primary care, yet not so severe that child psychiatric services are warranted (particularly given the significant access issues we have in our state). We welcome your referralsto assume the care of these children (we provide well-child and preventative medicine care as well), or your consultations (we only focus on the specific behavioral/mental health/developmental issue) to establish a partnership. Dr. Zajac is a board-certified pediatrician with "MTF" (more than fellowship) training working with children with developmental disabilities and mental/behavioral health conditions for more than 10 years now. He graduated summa cum laude with a degree in child development, and completed all coursework required in the Early Childhood Special Education PhD program prior to focusing on developmental/behavioral pediatrics during his medical training. New Kingdom Pediatrics has established referral networks and partnerships with chiropractic doctors, homeopathic doctors, nutrition specialists, rehab services, individual/family therapists, psychologists, and child psychiatrists to make sure all needs of your patients are met with the highest quality and greatest convenience.
