In 2003, a formal theological training pilot project called Chandigarh Bible College was initiated by offering Bachelor of Theology (BTh) degree in English and Hindi medium. The Lords blessing of this ministry and the need of the hour necessitated that we re-structure the college and expand this ministry. Rev. Joel David, the former Principal, and India Director of Seek Partners International, in consultation with the President & CEO of SPI, Rev. Dr. Sukhwant S. Bhatia, and the board took the following decision: With effect from October 10, 2007, CBC will be renamed as the NORTH INDIA INSTITUTE OF THEOLOGICAL STUDIES with its own independent registration. NIITS started operating as a ministry of SEEK PARTNERS INTERNATIONAL but also partners with other organizations and churches. NIITS has been an associate member of the Asia Theological Association ( ATA ) since 2005. ATA has approved the accreditation of the BTh & MDiv programs of NIITS until 2022. The ATA is a member of the International Council of Accrediting Agencies of the World Evangelical Alliance (formerly the World Evangelical Fellowship). While the Institutes particular definitions are important to its position, it is readily recognized that they do not define orthodoxy for the whole body of the Lord Jesus Christ. NIITS gladly embraces all who faithfully adhere to the essentials of biblical Christianity as fellow believers and colleagues in Christs cause. Whereas Biblical Christianity is defined by the central tenets of the faith, throughout the history of the church various groups have employed more specific definitions to define themselves.
