The Manufacturing Engineer will be responsible for the formulation, administration and coordination of industrial and manufacturing engineering projects, policies, processes, methods and procedures designed to improve operating performance, reduce waste and delays and otherwise promote cost reductions on a company-wide basis. Must be familiar with the IATF certification process and have a knowledge of the APQP process. Support new product start-up & launches. Duties to include but not limited to: Identify opportunities or implement changes to improve products or reduce costs using knowledge of fabrication processes, tooling and production equipment, assembly methods, quality control standards, or product design, materials and parts. Activities involve using time-study or standard data for a variety of machine, assembly and hand operations, production methods, equipment layout, material handling, and manpower, equipment and material utilization in order to improve operating performance.

Description: Perform substation control building and relay panel project reviews throughout The Company and compare with the Company standard drawings. This will require understanding the Company Standards and reviewing the project drawings to see if there were any deviations. This will also require trips to project sites to review the completed product. The results of these reviews will need to be put together and shared back to the Substation Control Standards Supervisor to report on the effectiveness of standards across Southern Company.
