ROYTEC is an institution, which caters to the needs of the commercial world in the area of human resource development, providing local and regional markets with access to training and education at the highest levels. ROYTEC is a private, non-sectarian business education and training institution registered with the Ministry of Science Technology and Tertiary Education (STTE). The historical beginnings of ROYTEC date back to April 1980 when the then Royal Bank of Trinidad and Tobago Limited launched its first major training seminar in Strategic Planning. This programme was so successful that it was extended to a two year tertiary level training programme called the Executive Development Programme. In 1987, ROYTEC commenced training for school leavers about to enter the world of work. The students were enrolled in the programme, Introduction to Business and Computer Technology (IBCT), which exposed them to the skills and training necessary to make the transition from school to the working environment. In June 1990, ROYTEC's services were expanded further to include adult education. An affiliation with the American Management Association (AMA) was established with the main objective being to keep business professionals abreast of the latest management applications and techniques utilized worldwide. Together with AMA, ROYTEC conducted a number of seminars in General Management, Marketing, Human Resources Management and Project Management. In 1990, the ROYTEC also brought the concept of "Video Conferencing" to the shores of Trinidad and Tobago. For the first time business practitioners were able to participate in live lectures from Management gurus such as Dr. Peter Drucker and Dr. W. E. Deming. ROYTEC also engaged in consultancy and in-house training both locally and abroad, to individuals as well as medium and small businesses.
