In 2009 building on its previous successes, the BSI integrated what had already been accomplished with a new pilot, growing into a self-sustaining, statewide, professional learning Network intended to promote overall systemic change. The purpose was to allow faculty, staff, and administrators to share and build upon existing knowledge while at the same time creating opportunities for transformation. Foundational to this Network are evidence-based knowledge building, inquiry, capacity building, direct training, and resource development. To build the pilot Network, coordinators were initiatlly assigned to four specific locations (Bay Area, Los Angeles, Sacramento/Central Valley, and San Diego). In the summer of 2010, four new networks were created. The Bay Area Learning Network was divided into two networks to serve the South Bay and the North Bay and provide easier network access to South and North Bay Community Colleges. After a couple of years exploration and experimentation, the regions have expanded and divided even further to provide more communication with the number of community colleges spread across a vast and diverse geography. Now, the CVRN helps connect and support the following colleges: San Joaquin Delta College, Modesto Junior College, Columbia College, Gavilan College, Merced College, Fresno City College, Reedley College, West Hills Colleges: Coalinga and Lemoore, College of Sequoias, Porterville College, Bakersfield College, Taft College, and Cerro Coso College - a distance, from north to south, of approximately 350 miles!
