GLPS is an agency of the Town of Greeneville, Tennessee. It is governed by a board (known as the Greeneville Light & Power Board), the members of which are appointed by the Mayor and Board of Aldermen for the Town of Greeneville. Unless otherwise rescheduled, the Greeneville Light & Power Board meets on the fourth Monday of each month at 9:00 a.m.., at the offices of GLPS. The General Manager is the chief executive officer of GLPS and is responsible for the day to day operations of the system.GLPS employs Customer Service Representatives who can respond to Customer needs, questions, and requests. They are all located in GLPS's main office at 110 North College Street. GLPS serves approximately 37,500 customers within Greene County, Tennessee and portions of surrounding counties, with approximately 2,100 miles of line. It is a financially sound company with 79 full time employees and 5 part time employees and is governed by an appointed five member board including the following, Chairman Shane Hite, Secretary Sam Miller, Jim Emory, Willie Anderson and Sarah Webster. The board meets the fourth Monday of each month at 9:00 a.m. in the board room at 110 North College Street. The general manager is Bill Carroll.
