The business of Tuftco Corporation was founded in 1960 as Southern Machine Company for the purpose of manufacturing and distributing tufting machines to the carpet industry. Tuftco's founders were at the forefront of introducing the broadloom tufting machine to the world. In fact, it was during the 60's that Tuftco began marketing its equipment on an international basis, placing machinery outside the United States in Europe, Asia, and South America. The company expanded its product line in the late 60's with the addition of finishing equipment, as well as expansion into yarn delivery systems and other components necessary to produce a complete tufted carpet mill. During the 70's and 80's, Tuftco expanded its product line further coinciding with the explosive growth of computerization. During that period of time, the company chartered Tuftco Technologies, Inc. and Tuftcosoft, Inc. to take advantage of utilizing computer technology in conjunction with basic tufting technology. In that same period, the company's finishing equipment division made acquisitions of manufacturers of carpet handling equipment including conveyor systems and roll-up machines. his further expanded Tuftco's product offering to supply the carpet manufacturer with a complete turnkey tufted carpet operation anywhere in the world. In 1985 the ownership of the company was transferred to the family that currently comprises the Board of Directors of Tuftco Corporation. Today Tuftco has four manufacturing facilities in the Southeastern United States. The company's mission is to provide ideas and machinery for customers to develop soft floorcovering products that create new and fresh looks for flooring areas in both residential and commercial settings. Our goal is to produce products that will differentiate from existing soft floorcoverings, as well as compete with or enhance hard flooring surface. This includes broadloom carpet and carpet tile as well as very sophisticated rugs. The company is also well known in the production of equipment for ...

What Skills Does a person Need at Tuftco Corp?

At Tuftco Corp, specify the abilities and skills that a person needs in order to carry out the specified job duties. Each competency has five to ten behavioral assertions that can be observed, each with a corresponding performance level (from one to five) that is required for a particular job.

  1. Accounting: Creating financial statements and reports based on the summary of financial and business transactions.
  2. Accounts Payable: Accounts payable (AP) is money owed by a business to its suppliers shown as a liability on a company's balance sheet. It is distinct from notes payable liabilities, which are debts created by formal legal instrument documents.
  3. Customer Service: Customer service is the provision of service to customers before, during and after a purchase. The perception of success of such interactions is dependent on employees "who can adjust themselves to the personality of the guest". Customer service concerns the priority an organization assigns to customer service relative to components such as product innovation and pricing. In this sense, an organization that values good customer service may spend more money in training employees than the average organization or may proactively interview customers for feedback. From the point of view of an overall sales process engineering effort, customer service plays an important role in an organization's ability to generate income and revenue. From that perspective, customer service should be included as part of an overall approach to systematic improvement. One good customer service experience can change the entire perception a customer holds towards the organization.
  4. Accounts Receivable: Accounts receivable is a legally enforceable claim for payment held by a business for goods supplied and/or services rendered that customers/clients have ordered but not paid for. These are generally in the form of invoices raised by a business and delivered to the customer for payment within an agreed time frame. Accounts receivable is shown in a balance sheet as an asset. It is one of a series of accounting transactions dealing with the billing of a customer for goods and services that the customer has ordered. These may be distinguished from notes receivable, which are debts created through formal legal instruments called promissory notes.
  5. Bookkeeping: Bookkeeping is the recording of financial transactions, and is part of the process of accounting in business. Transactions include purchases, sales, receipts, and payments by an individual person or an organization/corporation. There are several standard methods of bookkeeping, including the single-entry and double-entry bookkeeping systems. While these may be viewed as "real" bookkeeping, any process for recording financial transactions is a bookkeeping process. Bookkeeping is the work of a bookkeeper (or book-keeper), who records the day-to-day financial transactions of a business. They usually write the daybooks (which contain records of sales, purchases, receipts, and payments), and document each financial transaction, whether cash or credit, into the correct daybook—that is, petty cash book, suppliers ledger, customer ledger, etc.—and the general ledger. Thereafter, an accountant can create financial reports from the information recorded by the bookkeeper.
