Job Description SFGATE Breaking News Editor Your Impact: Under the direction of SFGATE's Deputy Managing Editor, the Breaking News Editor will lead SFGATE's most timely coverage. They'll understand the massive responsibility - and opportunity - we have to deliver news to residents of the Bay Area quickly and accurately. The Breaking News Editor will edit multiple stories in a day, and sometimes juggle several assignments at once. They'll be able to prioritize which stories must publish first based on timeliness and audience opportunity, and meet the moment with speed and diligence in their own work. They will work together with SFGATE's Breaking News Reporter, as well as other reporters on staff, to cover weather, traffic, crime and more every day, including writing stories of their own. They should also feel comfortable leading the newsroom through a major news moment, like an earthquake or wildfire.
