For those who do not know, YouthRoots is an organization that utilizes the passions of teenagers to develop leadership skills, raise awareness for the social issues plaguing the community, and fundraise through various methods and then donate the money to the best charities. Last year, the three social issues that the YouthRoots board decided to fundraise for were Early Childhood Education, High School Dropouts, and Teenage Pregnancy. Through various fundraising efforts, YouthRoots ended up donating to 6 different organizations after our careful grant review process. This year, I hope to continue my work with YouthRoots and apply the tremendous amount of skills I learned last year to help YouthRoots and the rest of the board succeed. My goal is to be a more active member of YouthRoots and take the initiative to lead discussions and fundraising efforts. I know that through the teamwork and efforts of everyone on the board, we can truly change the world little by little through our fundraising efforts to help the social issues needing help in the community.
