Telecommunications Technician II installs, troubleshoots, repairs and maintains telecommunications equipment. Provides reports, completes requests for new service, and determines methodology for installing telephone service. Being a Telecommunications Technician II determines appropriateness of moderate equipment changes or modifications including call switches, test trunks and test links, and installs communication circuits. May require an associate degree or its equivalent. Additionally, Telecommunications Technician II typically reports to a project leader or manager. To be a Telecommunications Technician II typically requires 1-3 years of related experience. May be entry level if some experience in the skill. Gains or has attained full proficiency in a specific area of discipline. Works under moderate supervision.
