Business Office Manager - Healthcare oversees day to day activities of one or more functions within a hospital's business office. Responsible for admitting and registration, patient billing and collection, third-party payer relations, and/or preparation of insurance claims. Being a Business Office Manager - Healthcare ensures activities comply with hospital standards and government regulations. May also be responsible for the patient admitting function. Additionally, Business Office Manager - Healthcare generates budgets, financial statements, and various reports. Requires a bachelor's degree. Typically reports to the head of a unit/department. The Business Office Manager - Healthcare manages subordinate staff in the day-to-day performance of their jobs. True first level manager. Ensures that project/department milestones/goals are met and adhering to approved budgets. Has full authority for personnel actions. Extensive knowledge of department processes. To be a Business Office Manager - Healthcare typically requires 5 years experience in the related area as an individual contributor. 1 to 3 years supervisory experience may be required.     BOM Position Summary

    The Business Office Manager is responsible for overseeing the business office, billing, resident funds, etc. Their role also includes the following responsibilities: 

    • Maintain a collaborative relationship with the admissions office, working toward the occupancy and collection goals.
    • Assist in financial review of referrals and obtain authorizations as needed and work with residents and families to discuss facility rates, billing and payment terms, and Medicaid applications.
    • Keep up with monthly Medicaid, Medicare, and Managed Care insurance billing and follow-up with intermediaries on delinquent payments.
    • Accumulate and maintain vital statistics relating to admissions, discharges, expirations, transfers, and daily census of facility residents.
    • Maintain financial records including cash receipts, cash disbursements, accounts receivable, accounts payable, payroll journal, and general ledger as directed.
    • Perform any other additional tasks as assigned by the Administrator, Business Office Director, Prema Financial Solutions, or the corporate team.
    • Maintain confidentiality of protected information, including verbal, written and electronic communications.

    BOM Requirements

    • Business Degree or experience in a healthcare facility
    • Must know Florida Medicaid, Medicare, and Managed Care insurances.
    • Experienced in long-term care
