Provides phone, clerical, and data entry support including insurance verification. Being a Clinic Receptionist directs patients, visitors, and callers to appropriate parties and answers basic questions. Requires a high school diploma. Additionally, Clinic Receptionist typically reports to a supervisor or manager. The Clinic Receptionist possesses a moderate understanding of general aspects of the job. Under general supervision, this position performs front office processes associated with patient check-in, check-out, scheduling, referrals, electronic medical records, administers and supports the clinic’s billing, and insurance functions, in accordance with internal standards and procedures, and regulatory requirements.
The person serving in the position of Clinic Receptionist is responsible for instilling a favorable first impression and gaining the confidence of the patient during the scheduling/registration process. The Clinic Receptionist is also responsible for a variety of business related tasks including but not limited to answering phone calls, scheduling appointments, interviewing patients or their responsible party to obtain necessary information when completing the registration/scheduling process. The Clinic Receptionist assists with other business related functions as needed.
