Distribution Center Manager manages the overall planning, organizing, and operations of a distribution center. Oversees all distribution functions, including order processing, picking, packaging, shipping, and receiving. Being a Distribution Center Manager monitors inventory levels to ensure sufficient levels to fulfill all orders. Balances workloads as needed to achieve production and delivery goals for each shift. Additionally, Distribution Center Manager utilizes software, data, and analytics to optimize operations, track production metrics, and anticipate and resolve problems. Provides the necessary equipment, tools, and training to staff to ensure safe, secure, and efficient operations. Complies with all OSHA and other regulations, policies, safety procedures, and documentation requirements. May evaluate and select transportation or freight services, negotiate contracts, and manage vendor relations. May require a bachelor's degree or equivalent. Typically reports to a head of a unit/department. The Distribution Center Manager manages subordinate staff in the day-to-day performance of their jobs. True first level manager. Ensures that project/department milestones/goals are met and adhering to approved budgets. Has full authority for personnel actions. To be a Distribution Center Manager typically requires 5 years experience in the related area as an individual contributor. 1 - 3 years supervisory experience may be required.     The DC Supervisor will be expected to operate the daily functions of the warehouse in the absence of the Assistant DC Manager. The DC Supervisor will ensure all facets of the departmental processes and procedures are completed daily, will follow up with and communicate effectively to all departments outside of the warehouse, and will lead, develop and motivate all warehouse staff.

    ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

    • Regularly required to use hands to finger, handle or feel, reach with hands and arms and talk or hear
    • Regularly lift and/or move objects up to 50 pounds
    • Occasionally team lift and/or move objects that weigh more than 100 pounds
    • Frequently required to stand, walk, stoop, kneel and crouch
    • Frequently required to push/pull a ladder, ascend and/or descend ladder while holding packages
    • Occasionally required to sit, climb and balance
    • Specific vision abilities required for this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust and focus.

    JOB FUNCTIONS

    • Suggest methods to continuously improve shipping operations.
    • Provide appropriate coaching, counseling, direction and resolution.
    • Supervise the packaging and shipping of small parcels using UPS and Fed Ex software.
    • Assist manager with daily operation of warehouse.
    • Ensure new and current employees have appropriate training and other resources to perform their job duties.
    • Use effective and professional communication.
    • Direct and supervise shipping personnel
    • Provide computer, product training and technical product knowledge and support
    • Monitor employee performance and productivity
    • Provide assistance to Sales, Purchasing, Inventory and Customer Service staff
    • Address and resolve personnel issues
    • Provide new hires a company tour and introduce them to the TND staff
    • Pick, check and package customer orders
    • Capability to build non-stock, out of stock product and re-key locksets
    • Prepare and present employee evaluations in conjunction with peers
    • Authorize vacation/personal time off requests
    • Work with the management team to configure product layout
    • Conduct product training classes, convene impromptu Receiving department meetings and provide input to the monthly Receiving/Shipping department meeting
    • Product layout in warehouse in conjunction with the Inventory Supervisor

    JOB REQUIREMENTS

    • Attention to detail.
    • Must have the ability to lead, direct, and motivate people.
    • Must be able to work with other departments and be a team player.
    • Must be able to delegate work where needed.
    • Must be familiar with the ERP systems, Epicor P21 experience is a plus.
    • Strong Microsoft Office knowledge.
    • Must follow all safety guidelines and procedures
    • Must adhere to all safety and housekeeping policies and guidelines.

    EDUCATION

    • High School Diploma or GED Equivalent preferred
    • Minimum of 6 months warehouse experience with the use of WMS System a plus
    • Ability to use specific keying tools and key cutting machine
    • Strong knowledge for the tear down and rebuild of all commercial and residential locks a plus.
    • Strong computer skills (Excel and Outlook).
    • Process packages through the UPS/FedEx systems
    • Demonstrates ability to hit standards in accuracy and productivity
    • Ability to receive, inspect to ensure accuracy and properly put away product.
