Logistics Director manages all aspects of an organization's logistics management function to control, deliver, and distribute products and materials to the destination. Implements an overall strategy, metrics, and processes to deploy an optimized logistic network and operations. Being a Logistics Director oversees critical and related inventory, distribution, and transportation operations that support the achievement of organizational goals and KPI's for product delivery and customer satisfaction. Selects vendors and negotiates rates and service levels and monitors performance. Additionally, Logistics Director ensures compliance with all regulations governing transportation of goods. Utilizes analytics to monitor and measure performance, identify problems in operations, and achieve high performance at optimal cost. Requires a bachelor's degree. Typically reports to a director. The Logistics Director typically manages through subordinate managers and professionals in larger groups of moderate complexity. Provides input to strategic decisions that affect the functional area of responsibility. May give input into developing the budget. To be a Logistics Director typically requires 3+ years of managerial experience. Capable of resolving escalated issues arising from operations and requiring coordination with other departments. With over 18,000 employees across more than 50 countries, GEA offers a stimulating work environment, international collaboration, and amazing opportunities for personal growth and development.Your responsibilities and tasks:- Lead direct procurement including the purchasing of electrical components, skids, control panels and other direct materials to support the Separation & Flow Technologies NAM business
- Develop, lead and execute direct purchasing strategy
- Create purchase orders and follow up with vendors on delivery schedules
- Craft negotiation strategies and close deals with optimal terms
- Partner with stakeholders to ensure clear documentation requirements for vendor setup, changes and payment
- Seek, vet and partner with reliable vendors
- Identify and implement process improvement projects
Your profile and qualifications:
- Preferred Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, Supply Chain, Logistics or Business Administration
- Familiarity with sourcing and vendor management
- Background in electrical components, control panels or skid manufacturing a plus
- SAP or similar ERP knowledge a plus
- Strong leadership capabilities
- Problem solving mindset
- Organizational skills
- Negotiation skills and attention to detail
