Mental Health Technician observes and assists assigned mental health patients and helps with daily living activities, therapeutic activities, and socialization. Responsible for the overall maintenance of a therapeutic environment in the psychiatric unit and to ensure the safety of patents and staff. Being a Mental Health Technician attends and participates in group therapy, in-service education, and staff meetings. Records information about patients including vital signs, weight, and demeanor. Additionally, Mental Health Technician may communicate with patients family as needed. Typically requires an associate degree or equivalent. Typically reports to a registered nurse (rn) or other supervisor. The Mental Health Technician works under moderate supervision.     About the position:
    The ACT Services Coordinator facilitates day-to-day coordination and tracking of ACT program client service needs and team member activities to ensure that client needs are met in a timely fashion by performing general program organization tasks, screening and directing calls to appropriate team members, scheduling client services and client supports, data input and data tracking, and other duties as assigned by the Program Manager. The Administrative Assistant also performs general service delivery tasks as a support to the overall functioning of the ACT team and builds helping relationships with clients to aid in their development of daily living skills.


    Hourly: $21.00 - $25.73


    Principal Duties and Responsibilities
    • Coordinate day-to-day service provision to ACT clients
    • Serve as a central point of contact, including maintaining a presence in the ACT office and answering the ACT phone. Identify and triage needs as they arise, and dispatch ACT Team Members to address needs and concerns.
    • Assist ACT Team Lead in running routine reports, filing, data entry, and other office tasks as directed
    • Coordinate daily rounds and weekly meetings, including documenting statuses and ensuring that scheduling gaps are filled.
    • Assist with scheduling both client appointments with ACT Team Members and client appointments with other providers where team support is required.
    • Assist Therapists with the collection of client-specific Annual Review information when requested.
    • As needed, provide support for clients in the community as they conduct daily living tasks, such as shopping, maintaining a household, or attending medical appointments, and distribute medications to clients at client homes, or at the office as indicated in the client’s treatment plan.
    • Understand that many clients have been traumatized and strive to constantly provide services from a respectful, trauma-informed perspective.




    Participate in the ACT Treatment Team

    Regularly attend ACT team meetings and rounds and collaborate with other ACT team members to identify strategies to provide quality care to ACT clients.

    Coordinate care with other members of the ACT team, as well as other providers, families, courts, schools, etc. as required to assist the client to succeed in meeting individual goals.


    Complete administrative and continuing education responsibilities
    • Complete all required paperwork, including notes on services and individual client paperwork, in a timely manner.
    • Meet requirements regarding productivity and dependability.
    • Be familiar with relevant fidelity requirements, and complete responsibilities in a manner that comports with relevant fidelity standards.
    • Coordinate with co-workers and treatment teams, including assisting with complex case reviews or family systems reviews as necessary.
    • Actively participate in clinical supervision, as well as staff meetings.
    • Engage in continuing education activities and training, and continually build therapeutic skills.
    • Participate in completeness and quality reviews as required.
    • As required, positively represent SLMH in the community and with other service providers, and/or act as a liaison with other organizations or with internal committees/cross-departmental teams.
    • Perform all duties in a respectful and responsible manner, both with clients and coworkers and in a manner that meets all professional ethical standards.
    • Additional duties as requested.

    Requirements

    Education and Experience

    Ability to obtain MHACBO registration and be credentialed as a QMHA (Bachelors in a related field or 3 years of experience working with individuals with a Mental Health diagnosis, or a combination of education and experience).

    Peer Support Specialist Certification and inclusion on the Traditional Health Worker Registry.


    Proffered Experience
    • 1 to 2 years of active employment in the field of mental health treatment and/or substance use treatment, with a focus on the SPMI population.

    Proffered Skills and Knowledge
    • Understand mental health assessment, treatment, and service terminology, and apply these concepts.
    • Experience working with individuals with severe and persistent mental illness.
    • Ability to respond calmly and professionally in high-stress situations and respond constructively to clients in a mental health crisis.
    • Ability to balance clinical, cultural, and ethical values, particularly as relates to client and staff needs.
    • Strong written and oral communication skills.
    • Ability to interact with people of all ages and cultural backgrounds.
    • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
    • Sound computer and typing skills.

    Essential Job Functions
    While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand, walk, move, talk, hear, and manipulate equipment, as well as lift and move objects, equipment, and supplies. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. Lift up to 40-50 pounds may occasionally be required, depending on the specific style or type of care provided. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus. The employee must travel regularly using a personal vehicle to locations throughout the community, including client homes.

    The employee works in well-lit, clean environments. The noise level in the work environment is quiet to moderate. May work evenings or weekends. The employee may occasionally work with angry or hostile clients or members of the public, work with toxic substances and biohazards, and be exposed to infectious illnesses.
