Payroll Administrator is responsible for the accurate preparation, documentation, distribution and reconciliation of payroll and the administration of the payroll system. Reviews the computation of pay and associated deductions for accuracy. Being a Payroll Administrator maintains up-to-date knowledge of city, state, provincial, local, and federal legislation affecting payroll; understands and follows applicable provisions. Prepares required tax filings and other reporting. Additionally, Payroll Administrator may coordinate payroll processing with an outside service provider. Responds to and resolves any inquiries regarding paychecks or payroll reporting. Ensures payroll issues are escalated and resolved promptly. May require an associate degree or equivalent. Typically reports to a manager or head of a unit/department. The Payroll Administrator work is closely managed. Works on projects/matters of limited complexity in a support role. And, to assist with various accounting related tasks which may include accounts payable, accounts receivable and special projects.Full-time, $14.00 per hour, Medical, Life, Short-term disability, Flex spending, Dental/Vision, 401(k), PTOQualificationsAssociates Degree in Business Administration/Finance required, Accounting Degree preferred, 3 years in Payroll Office performing all payroll functionsTask• Manage the preparation and processing of payroll, deductions, rate changes and other updates• Responsible for the proper flow and maintenance of employee data – including preparation/distribution of detailed reports, e.g. overtime, leave request, and retirement contribution reports• Report new hires electronically to State of Michigan• Facilitate employee understanding of payroll and benefit procedureso Provide benefit orientations and enrollmentso Process and maintain reports and pay changeso Compile and process payroll data such as garnishments, time off, and benefit deductions• Prepare and maintain employee files assuring accuracy, compliance and confidentiality including, but not limited to, unemployment claims, verifications, OSHA compliance, I-9 status and state regulations• Establish/maintain employee records; ensure that the employee changes are entered correctly and made on a timely basis• Process and review annual W-2’s and 1095’s for Affordable Care Act (ACA) reporting• FMLA administrationo Communicate FMLA guidelines to employeeso Complete and administer FMLA paperworko Track FMLA time for compliance• Prepare progressive discipline documentation as instructed by management• Track accidents and incidents involving employees and/or vehicles.
