Security Director implements overall security strategy, policies, and standards to ensure the physical safety of all visitors, employees, or customers to the organization's facilities and the security of property and assets. Conducts regular audits and inspections to assess, identify, and mitigate any security vulnerabilities or gaps. Being a Security Director implements staff training and operational plans for crisis response, disaster recovery, evacuation, workplace violence, and other emergency events. Manages and maintains systems, alarms, and other physical security measures. Additionally, Security Director delivers education programs and communications on security policies and topics to ensure staff is adequately informed and equipped to manage potential security issues. Participates in local, state, provincial, or federal working or advisory groups to keep abreast with all security-related information, directives, and events. Leads and directs significant investigations and critical event responses in coordination with law enforcement and other officials or agencies. Possess a broad knowledge of law enforcement methods, tactics, and procedures. Requires a bachelor's degree in law enforcement, criminal justice, security, or related discipline. Typically reports to senior management. The Security Director typically manages through subordinate managers and professionals in larger groups of moderate complexity. Provides input to strategic decisions that affect the functional area of responsibility. May give input into developing the budget.   • OVERVIEW
    The Security Director will maintain a safe and secure environment for students, employees, and visitors by helping to develop, establish and enforce safety and security policies, access control procedures, accident prevention efforts, support risk management efforts, fire, safety, emergency management, asset protection, parking control and traffic enforcement programs. The Security Director performs tasks in developing, implementing, and managing programs designed to effectively address church security and school safety needs. The Security Director is responsible for coordinating a comprehensive church and school safety program, which includes working with local law enforcement agencies. The Security Director works extensively with school administrators and church operations on all areas of safety. Work also involves implementing training programs pertaining to matters of safety and security. The Security Director will develop and monitor church and school safety areas within capital improvement plans. The Security Director may represent when directed by leadership to communicate with the media on school safety matters. This position reports to the Operations Director.
    PRIMARY AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITY:
    • Oversee dropoff and pickup of school students, looking closely to traffic patterns, student, parent, and visitor safety.
    • Routine Security checks of the entire premises.
    • Respond to and handle any safety or security issues for both the school and church.
    • Coordinates a comprehensive security/school safety program to include:
      • Policies and procedures by studying organizational operations and schedules.
      • Establishing internal controls.
      • Conducting inspections as appropriate.
      • Reporting potential hazards to appropriate departments.
      • Creating and updating policies and Standard Operating Procedures, safety and security manuals.
    • Coordinate school safety compliance with federal, state and local regulations by studying existing and new requirements as well as overseeing and enforcing school-wide adherence to requirements.
    • Coordinates safety planning and practice to support academic processes by creatively implementing best practices in safety, security and emergency preparedness with proper adaptation to the environment. Creativity and innovation is vital so the process of education can be enhanced rather than impeded by safety efforts.
    • Conducts and coordinates safety, security, and emergency preparedness training by developing, scheduling and/or facilitating training for:
      • School and church staff.
      • Volunteers.
      • Students and public safety officials specifically relating to church and school safety.
      • Security and emergency preparedness.
    • Secure facilities, equipment, volunteers, students and personnel by working in conjunction with the appropriate departments in recommending safety and security equipment purchases and upgrades.
    • Maintains records of fire and other emergency drills and conducting drills when appropriate.
    • Supervising and maintaining access control and key distribution.
    • Provides oversight, documentation, and coordination of approval for church and school volunteers and independent service providers including background checks and clearance.
    • Serves as a liaison with local law enforcement agencies, working directly with local law enforcement agencies during critical incident situations and follow-up.
    • Works with appropriate departments to meet operational security needs within budget for capital improvements as needed including:
      • Finance.
      • Facilities.
      • CCCS.
      • Pastoral.
      • Volunteer/Ministry Support.
    • Assists in the development and implementation of security plans for special events.
    • Advises and assists administrators in matters involving criminal activities on campus.
    • Coordinates with administrators and the Facilities Departments to address and correct safety/security issues on campus.
    • Prepares memos, reports, drawings, etc. related to safety and traffic issues on campus and presenting them to appropriate directors, managers or administrators.
    • Receives all reports of crimes on campus or related to church/school property or personnel from administrators and maintains statistics regarding this information.
    • May be directed to communicate with media regarding church/school safety.
    • Communicates with other schools on matters related to school safety.
    • The Security Director participates in annual trainings to stay current on laws, policies and procedures regarding school safety.
    • Attends parent organizational and school meetings as necessary.
    • Represents the church in matters of security through state and national organizations.
    • Performs other related work as required.
    MINISTERIAL
    • Clearly present the Gospel, the good news of salvation whenever the occasion arises.
    • Lead, initiate and participate in prayer with whoever needs it; congregants, students, co-workers and the general public.
    • Ability to answer basic questions in alignment with the Bible.
    • Must have a heart for the mission and drive of Calvary Chapel Las Vegas.

    JOB QUALIFICATIONS:
    Minimum Experience
    • The church seeks an individual who has demonstrated professional work experience in at least one of the primary fields related to this position:
      • Law Enforcement
      • Security
      • Emergency Management
    Preferred Experience or Training
    • POST- Approved Police Academy or equivalent, FBI National Academy Program, Advanced Police Management Program, National Fire Academy, Emergency Management Institute, Security Training Programs or other comparable training programs.
    • Tactical Response Training
    • Emergency Management Certification
    • Bachelor’s Degree
    • Proficient with MS Office; 3-5 years accounting, bookkeeping, customer service, experience in accounts receivables is a plus.
    • Excellent people skills with a love for working with people.
    • Able to interact easily and listen to others.
    • Proficient in Microsoft programs; Word, Excel and Powerpoint.
    • Capable of working independently with the ability to effectively deal with and solve problems and make rational decisions.
    Education
    • High school diploma, some college preferred.
    WORKING CONDITION REQUIREMENTS:
    Must have ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization. Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit; use hands to finger, handle or feel; reach with hands and arms; and talk or hear. The employee is frequently required to stand; walk; climb or balance; and stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus. An employee must work with a moderate noise level.
