Job Summary: The accountant plays a pivotal role in the Accounting & Admin team, contributing to the management of financial transactions, preparing comprehensive reports, and strictly adhering to accounting principles and Company policies. A successful individual in this position will be detail oriented, able to work independently, and be resourceful with a strong tenacity to solve problems. This is a salary exempt position reporting to the manager of accounting.

Responsibilities & Duties:

• Month end and year-end close processes, including reconciliations and journal entries.
• Preparing accurate and timely financial statements for internal stakeholders, working together with other team members.
• Manage the payroll processes, including processing of payrolls, accurate entry of payroll data, ensuring timely & accurate payments to employees, and coordinating post-payroll activities.
• Manage the general ledger, ensuring accuracy and proper recording of transactions in TIMS (CU developed software).
• Perform accounting functions for subsidiaries including processing accounts payables, tracking costs, invoicing and preparing financial statements & spreadsheets.
• Administer fixed asset accounting for all entities, tracking fixed assets, calculating monthly depreciation and disposing of assets.
• Develop and document business processes and accounting policies to maintain and strengthen internal controls.
• Serve as back up for various accounting functions including accounts payable, purchasing, collections, and billing.

Education & Experience:

• Bachelor’s degree in business administration with emphasis in accounting or finance required.
• 2 years of experience in accounting or related field.
• Experience with Microsoft products and complicated Excel formulas and spreadsheets required.
• Strong knowledge of General Accepted Accounting Practices (GAAP)
• Experience with ADP Workforce Now or other payroll solution experience is a plus.

Travel/Working Conditions This position will be in office at our Billings, Montana location.
