Summary/ Objective
The Accounts Receivable & Credit Manager is responsible for managing customer invoicing and revenue for processed invoice and credits, and resolving missed payments. Monitoring of customer accounts, improving AR DSO, and effectively supervising supporting staff members.
Essential Functions
- Develop, implement, and continuously improve processes and procedures for the finance system.
- Develop, implement, and continuously improve a set of internal financial controls.
- Manage the customer prebill process.
- Assist the Director of Finance with the annual external auditor review; troubleshoot and resolve issues identified during audit; correct procedures and internal controls as appropriate to ensure compliance.
- Monitor customer account aging reports, identify delinquent accounts that need immediate follow up.
- Ensure proper posting of all receivables via daily EFT, checks, and credit cards.
- Work with credit and collection on customer inquiries and account issues.
- Manage consolidated invoicing through various third-party portals.
- Manage reconciling Cash Box Deposits and monthly reconciliations.
- Review Prepaid Expense and Marketing Refund GLs monthly.
- Manage all Unclaimed Property items for customers.
- Review Rocket Cloud 3rd Party Seller account.
- Assist Credit Managers with placing customer accounts for collections, negotiating payoffs/payments plans and bankruptcy proceedings.
- Work with collection agencies and attorneys on delinquent accounts in conjunction with Credit Managers.
- Review of limits and credit status with data base subscriptions to manage financial risk on existing accounts.
- Accountable for outputs and working behaviors of subordinates and to build and sustain an effective team capable of producing those outputs.
- Accountable for exercising effective managerial leadership including the managerial leadership practices outlined below.
- Conducts regular Customer Account meetings with all Credit Managers to discuss overall collections, plans, and problems. Logs minutes from these meetings in eclipse system and sends out to all managers for their information.
- Co-Conduct Departmental meetings on a bi-annual basis. Logs minutes from these meetings in eclipse system and sends out to all managers for their information.
- Manage the extension of credit to customers and all related credit and collections activities.
- Develops managerial plan for achieving departmental/unit goals, assigns tasks, judges how well subordinates perform, and coaches for personal development in role.
- Develops annual performance goals for subordinate employees and monitors performance; decides personal effectiveness appraisal and merit review.
- Reviews lists of job candidates provided by immediate manager and makes hiring selections; vetoes appointments when candidates are judged to be unable to do the work required.
- Ensures that new employees are effectively inducted into role requirements, working relationships, and company requirements and culture.
- Provides employees with training opportunities to gain knowledge and skills to perform assigned tasks.
- Make de-selection decisions if employees cannot perform the work required and inform own manager.
- Continuously improves the processes used to deliver outputs.
- Requests additional staff from own manager.

This role is a supervisory role. The following positions report to the finance manager:

Work Environment
This job operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines.
Physical Demands
The is largely a sedentary role; however, some filing is required. This would require the ability to lift files, open filing cabinets and bend or stand as necessary. (20 lb limit)
Travel
Occasional travel which is primarily local during the business day, although some out-of-area and overnight travel may be expected.
Education And Experience
- BS in Accounting preferred, but not required.
- At least five years of related experience and/or training in an accounting environment.
- Detailed knowledge of accounts receivable and collections.
- Understanding of GAAP.
