About being an Activity Coordinator at Easterseals Redwood:
- The Activity Coordinator will be responsible for planning and implementing all educational and interactive enrichment activities for Adult Disability Services. The Activity Coordinator will also be responsible for identifying staff training related to these topics.
Essential and Primary Responsibilities:
- Manage the development and implementation of a balanced activity program to support individual skill building, continued learning, personal growth, and achievement of person-centered outcomes for all Adult Disability Service locations
- Staff training and education on activity needs, assistive techniques, and best practices.
- Manage the development and implementation of a balanced activity program to support client skill building, personal growth, and achievement of person-centered outcomes for all Adult Disability Service locations.
- Research, plans, and prepares activity supplies for program rooms to ensure efficient use of scheduled activity time.
- Demonstrates knowledge of individuals by creating enriching opportunities for individual participation based on goals and needs. This includes review of individuals goals that are changing and ongoing.
- Research, plan and lead community-based outings and on-site opportunities for continued learning and experiences for clients, including scheduling organization vehicle, money, itinerary and safety for OH Adult Disability Service programs.
- Creates activity plans for program rooms that include materials, set-up, activity sequence and modification options for completion. Activity plans will also consist of prompting strategies and individualized support to promote individual independence.
- Works cooperatively with team leads and co-leads to identify instruction modifications or assistive technology needs for daily activities, on-site events, and community outings that will help give individuals' opportunities for full independence and participation.
- Orders, purchases, and prepares shopping lists to support activity plans in consideration of available funding. Can assist Assistant Director with ideas for activities budget. Coordinates with Ohio Adult Disability programs for shopping lists and preparation for activities.
- Creates communication boards and activity schedules for individuals in collaboration with team leads and therapy staff.
- Provides support and input for in room arrangement and needs to support individual learning outcomes.
- Plans activities for service learning, reflection, and active engagement in community life to support community connectedness.
- Support team leads to maintain materials needed for activity carts/cabinets, current event topics/educational activities, backstock of materials and other preferred items for activities in program rooms.
- Organizes and leads individual driven club programs, such as choir, reading, gardening, etc. Identifies and implements new club programs to match individual interests.
- Collaborates with the Kentucky Assistant Director to plan/provide dances, intergenerational activities, theme days, and other department events.
- Collaborates with other departments/organizations to promote innovation, problem solving, and optimize training and resources.
What Easterseals Redwood needs from our Activity Coordinator:
- Preferred Education and Experience: Bachelor's degree in Special Education, Recreation Therapy, Education, or closely related field; or State certification in activity coordination with relevant experience.
- Required Education: High School Diploma or GED
