Is familiar with standard concepts, practices, and procedures within a particular field. In addition, Activity Coordinator performs a variety of tasks.     • Job Summary    
      • The Activity Services Assistant provides therapeutic activities to residents that are designed to meet the interests and to improve the physical, mental and psychosocial well being of each resident according to the comprehensive resident assessment and plan of care.  Coordinates individual resident programs to assist the resident in maintaining lifelong interests and self-esteem while promoting physical, cognitive and emotional functioning.  Activities provided are in accord with the facility policies and procedures and consistent with state and federal laws and regulations.
    • Duties & Essential Functions
      • Seeks and identifies ways to support residents’ individual needs and preferences, customary routines, concerns and choices.  Communicates this information to the department’s Manager.
      • Develops and provides individual, group and bedside Activities for residents that reflect interests of residents.    The activities are offered at an hour that is convenient to each individual resident.  (Morning, afternoon, evening and weekends)  The activities will appeal to all age groups, both men and women.  Activities will take place in a variety of locations and include seasonal events.
      • Current knowledge of standards of professional Activities practice.  Able to apply these principles in long term care setting and to establish criteria to ensure that services provided meet established standards of quality.
      • Develop Activity calendars and post calendars on resident units and distributes these schedules to residents.
      • Provides structured activities to meet the needs of cognitively impaired residents such as music events, gross motor games or outdoor walks.  Seeks ways to adapt activities so that all residents can participate such as segmenting activities into simple steps, providing verbal prompts, physical support, demonstration and hand-over-hand assistance when the resident is unable to complete a task independently.

Occasionally required to lift objects of 10 to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, and peripheral vision.
