GENERAL PURPOSE
Perform direct resident care in accordance with the resident’s assessment and care plan. Assist with promoting a compassionate, physical, and psychosocial environment, as directed and under supervision by your supervisors.
ACTIVITY ASSISTANT ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
- Plans, schedules, and execute activities for residents to help them socialize, relax, and have fun:
- Plan activities: Collaborate with the activity director to create a program of activities that meet the residents' needs. This includes considering the residents; spiritual, cultural, physical, intellectual, and social needs.
- Schedule activities: Plan the daily activities for residents and coordinate with other staff to avoid conflicts.
- Set up and clean up: Set up and clean up the activity room when needed.
- Transport residents: Transport residents from their rooms to the activity location.
- Engage residents: Encourage residents to participate in activities.
- Manage logistics: Manage all logistics for events, such as transportation, staff, catering, and live entertainment.
- Keep records: Keep records of relevant information, such as event popularity and resources used.
- Attend events: Attend events to support event leaders and observe participant satisfaction.
- Create safety protocols: Create safety protocols for events.
ACTIVITY ASSISTANT QUALIFICATIONS:
- High school diploma and C.N.A certification .
- More education or experience with nursing, recreational activities, event planning, or related may be preferred.
- Job training and first-aid and CPR training may be necessary.
- Ability to pass a background check and drug screening.
- Physical fitness, ability to walk, dance, stand, lift, or meet other physical demands.
- Adaptability and strong organization and time management skills.
- Excellent resource management, computer, record keeping, interpersonal, decision making, and verbal and written communication skills.
- Patience and compassion when dealing with others, especially those who are sick,injured, elderly, or from different backgrounds.
- Flexibility to work when needed, especially evenings, weekends, or early mornings.
- Willingness to adhere to and enforce all safety policies and procedures.
ACTIVITY ASSISTANT OTHER JOB FUNCTIONS:

- documentation and reporting responsibilities.

- Attend and participate in educational activities, in-service training and staff meetings.
- Assist in orientation training of other staff.
