    The Air Force Test Center is looking for a Full-Time Family Advocacy Treatment Manager (Interdisciplinary Series, NH-0185-0101-03) to work at the 412th Test Wing, 412th Medical Group, 412th Operational Medical Readiness Squadron, (412 OMRS/SGXW) at Edwards AFB in Edwards, California.


    NO 6-MONTH WAIT! Recently retired and/or retiring from MILITARY service ARE eligible for immediate appointment for AFTC positions. The 180-day waiting period has been waived for AFTC to hire recently retired and/or retiring service members.

    This position has a typical 2024 salary range of $101,121 - $156,323 (includes locality).

    Position specific skills and experience desired in a potential candidate:

    - Knowledge of dynamics and diagnostic skills necessary for family violence identification, risk assessment, and safety planning.

    - Must have experience as a group therapy facilitator or co-leader.

    - Experience in coordinating services for families and monitoring client participation and progress utilizing the modalities of social casework, psychotherapy, and psycho-educational interventions.

    - Ability to effectively interview, and clinically respond to the needs of clients including assessing suicide, homicide, and substance abuse.

    - Knowledge of the specific demands of the military lifestyle, such as frequent separations, and high stress working environments that have an extensive impact on individuals and their families preferred.

    - Ability to communicate in writing to develop and prepare case management documentation, safety plans, psycho-social assessments, treatment plans, correspondence, and reports.


    Mission/Purpose:

    To provide professional social work services in support of the Family Advocacy Program (FAP). As the Family Advocacy Treatment Manager (FATM), designs, develops, maintains, implements, and evaluates clinical services for installation FAP. Serves as an installation clinical subject matter expert (SME) providing consultation to installation leadership and medical professionals regarding needs assessment, determining clinical intervention requirements, and developing implementation strategies. Performs case management, risk and clinical assessments, and crisis intervention to prevent and treat child and spouse/intimate partner abuse serving beneficiaries scattered over a large geographical area.


    Major Duties:

    - Designs, develops, maintains, implements, and evaluates clinical service for installation FAP.

    - Responsible for case management activities occurring from initial referral and treatment, through case closure or transfer.

    - Provides professional advisory services and training to other health care professionals, legal and investigative agencies, and other helping agencies, advancing initiatives that enhance resiliency and decreases maltreatment in military families, and communities.

    - Risk and Clinical Assessment.

    - Crisis Intervention.


    Qualifications/Requirements:

    - U.S. Citizenship

    - Obtain & maintain Security clearance.

    - This is a designated Drug Testing Position

    - At a minimum, qualification requirements stipulated by the US Office of Personnel Management (OPM) for the 0185 occupational series must be met.

    - Selective Placement Factors: Must have the following minimum qualifications IAW DOD directive:

    - (1a) Must possess a current unrestricted license to practice clinical social work (LCSW) independently in any one of the 50 states, the District of Columbia, Puerto Rico, or the U.S. Virgin Islands.

    - 1b) Must possess a current unrestricted license to practice marriage and family therapy independently in any one of the 50 states, the District of Columbia, Puerto Rico, or the U.S. Virgin Islands.

    - (2) Two years of experience working in the field of child abuse and domestic abuse. Practice will require clinical privileges at the host MTF. Must maintain independent active clinical privileges for the duration of employment. Must sustain current competency to practice at the

    - independent level.

    - (3) Must have actively practiced as an independent Licensed Clinical Social Worker or a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist within the past two years.

    - (4) Government civilian providers must meet all applicable credentialing requirements IAW military treatment facility guidelines and be fully qualified to perform within the scope of their practice.

    - (5) Must possess and maintain current certification in Basic Life Support (BLS).

    - As a condition of employment, the employee shall meet all Medical Treatment Facility (MTF) Employee Occupational Health and Safety standards prior to start and throughout working at the MTF. Initial and periodic tests/immunizations required for all employees include Tuberculin. Skin Test (TST/PPD), Varicella (chicken pox), measles, mumps, rubella (MMR), Hepatitis B, Seasonal Influenza, tetanus, diphtheria and pertussis (Tdap). In addition to these requirements, each employee will stay up to date on their vaccinations throughout their employment with the Medical Facility in accordance with AFI 44-108, Infection Prevention and Control Program and the CDC guidelines (Immunization of Health-Care Personnel, Recommendations of the Advisory Committee on Immunization Practices, 2011).

    - This position has been identified as having "regular contact with children". IAW Public Law 101-647 Section 231, and Public Law 102-190, Section 1094. A FBI fingerprint and State Criminal History Repository (SCHR) Check will be completed on any person selected for this position.

    - Work may occasionally require travel away from the normal duty station on military or commercial aircraft.

    - Must be able to pass a pre-employment physical (if applicable)

    - Professional knowledge of a variety of social services, social work or marriage and family therapy practices, principles, and theories, including but not limited to clinical case work, community outreach programs, family and children protection services, and family violence prevention theory and practice, dynamics, and indicators.

    - Knowledge of the organization, management, and administration of child and family prevention and outreach services.

    - Knowledge of complex helping systems, professions, and organizations; how they affect child and family welfare; and the multiple uses of such systems, professions, and organizations to deliver services.

    - Skill in conducting interviews to establish the nature and extent of their concerns and/or issues; providing professional assistance to clients; and determining appropriate referral services and/or options.
