Advocacy Program Manager

    Summary of the Position

     The Advocacy Program Manager is responsible for day-to-day support and oversight of the family advocate team, including responding to case specific questions, case review, calendar and rotation planning, and direct supervision.



    Supervision & Coaching

    • Provides direct supervision and performance feedback to the family advocate team, including monthly one-on-ones, quarterly conversations and annual reviews.
    • Holds regular case staffing meetings with family advocates to provide support and guidance on next steps, as well as recommendations for case closure.
    • Works with the Director of Medical and Advocacy Services to recruit, interview and select well qualified professionals to perform the duties of the Family Advocate.
    • Supports professional development and self-care plans.
    • Partners with the Director of Medical and Advocacy Services to take appropriate corrective action to address performance concerns.
    • Proactively anticipates, manages and constructively resolves conflicts and disagreements; identifies ways conflict can lead to positive change; and takes appropriate action to address conflicts in a timely manner.
    • Demonstrates and fosters high ethical standards, and treats others fairly and ethically.
    • Oversees on-boarding and supervision of interns during assigned advocate rotation.


    Administrative Management

    • Facilitation of internal team meetings utilizing the EOS L10 format.
    • Prepares clear, concise, and well-organized written documents and oral presentations.
    • Monitors and ensure progress and completion of key performance indicator and quarterly team goals.
    • Assists in the onboarding of Family Advocates through a standardized orientation process.
    • Ensures adequate coverage is provided for all BraveBe locations.
    • Provides regular documentation review to ensure the family advocate team is meeting agency standards.

    Performance Compliance

    • Promotes best practices in the field in compliance with the National Children’s Alliance Standards for Accredited Members.
    • Ensures that direct services to crime victims operate within the policies and procedures of BraveBe, relevant state statutes and professional standards
    • Demonstrates a strong commitment to diversity principles and fosters an inclusive workplace where diversity and individual differences are valued and leveraged to achieve the organization’s goals
    • Promotes a positive image of BraveBe in the community and participates in special events and fundraising efforts
    • Earns the respect of the multidisciplinary teams and fosters open and positive relationships with law enforcement, NDHHS Children and Family Services and the prosecuting attorneys, while promoting best practices for child abuse investigation, prosecution and treatment in Southeast Nebraska


    The employee customarily and routinely exercises independent discretion and judgment in the performance of his or her duties and supervises a team of Family Advocates, as well as assigned interns.



    Education:  A bachelor’s degree in social work, psychology, human services, criminal justice or related field. Masters degree in relevant field is preferred.


    Experience:  3 years of professional experience working with children and families who have experienced trauma is required.  Previous supervision experience is strongly preferred.

    Exempt employees must be able to work flexible hours and to be on-call for emergency situations.  Evening and weekend hours may be required.  All employees must have access to a vehicle, possess a valid driver’s license and provide proof of insurance.  The position does involve travel throughout Lincoln and Southeast Nebraska.  All employees must submit to a criminal history background check prior to being hired and annually at the time of their performance evaluation.
