Aerospace Engineer researches and develops structural engineering specifications for aerospace products, parts, or associated operations to improve the efficiency and reliability of aerospace systems. Analyzes results of stress tests on various craft and missile parts to determine material durability and tolerances. Being an Aerospace Engineer oversees flight tests of prototypes and analyzes resulting data to validate flight characteristics and identify necessary improvements. Conducts calculations and utilizes simulations to evaluate aerodynamics, structural integrity, propulsion efficiency, and the effect on fuel consumption of new or existing materials. Additionally, Aerospace Engineer utilizes CAE, 3-D, and digital modeling to create detailed plans and specifications to support production. Assists quality assurance and purchasing teams with the evaluation of new or existing suppliers, products and materials, or technologies. Understands and complies with all federal regulatory requirements and specifications. Requires a bachelor's degree. Typically reports to a manager. The Aerospace Engineer work is closely managed.     Collins Aerospace is looking for a Senior Quality Engineer who will be working on the production floor for Cargo Systems. You will be collaborating with Design Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Operations, and Quality Control during the machining and/or assembly processes of cargo systems used in widebody aircraft and helicopters. This role may be eligible for relocation.

    Primary Responsibilities:
    • Monitor and improve internal processes using Quality Engineering tools (MSA, DOE, DMAIC, SPC control charts, Poka-yoke, etc.)
    • Identify and manage risk in new product development utilizing core elements of APQP and PPAP (e.g. PFMEA, Measurement System Analysis, Process Flow, and Control Plans).
    • Performs Escape management procedures, root cause analysis, and recommends corrective action for design problems for internally produced products & processes.
    • Provides explanations of testing and inspection plans, methods and technologies to assure reliability and conformance of products and processes.
    • Working with product design and specification, devises testing plans, methods, and equipment to assure reliability of product. Develop and implement sampling inspection planning for products.
    • Reviews process control documentation to ensure compliance with requirements, objectives, and/or contracts. Collaborates internally to ensure quality standards are in effect.
    • Develops proactive quality initiative strategies and drives their implementation.
    • Responsible for development of new inspection technologies or methodologies to assure product conformance.


    Qualifications/ Experience Needed:
    • Typically requires a University Degree and minimum 5 years prior relevant experience or an Advanced Degree in a related field and minimum 3 years of experience or in absence of a degree, 9 years of relevant experience
    • U.S. Person (U.S. citizen, permanent resident, refugee or asylee) or eligible to obtain necessary export authorizations required


    Preferred Qualifications:
    • Experience with Supplier Quality
    • Experience with Non-Conforming Product review
    • AS9100 knowledge including internal auditing (Highly desired)
    • Experience with Minitab or other statistical software
    • Thorough understanding of common Quality tools including: PPAP, APQP, Control Plan, FMEA, SPC, 8D, 5Y, MSA, etc.

    Employee Referral Eligible

    The salary range for this role is 77,000 USD - 163,000 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels. RTX considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role, function and associated responsibilities, a candidate's work experience, location, education/training, and key skills.
