Aerospace Engineer researches and develops structural engineering specifications for aerospace products, parts, or associated operations to improve the efficiency and reliability of aerospace systems. Analyzes results of stress tests on various craft and missile parts to determine material durability and tolerances. Being an Aerospace Engineer oversees flight tests of prototypes and analyzes resulting data to validate flight characteristics and identify necessary improvements. Conducts calculations and utilizes simulations to evaluate aerodynamics, structural integrity, propulsion efficiency, and the effect on fuel consumption of new or existing materials. Additionally, Aerospace Engineer utilizes CAE, 3-D, and digital modeling to create detailed plans and specifications to support production. Assists quality assurance and purchasing teams with the evaluation of new or existing suppliers, products and materials, or technologies. Understands and complies with all federal regulatory requirements and specifications. Requires a bachelor's degree. Typically reports to a manager. The Aerospace Engineer work is closely managed.     Collins Aerospace is currently seeking motivated candidates for Senior Systems Engineering positions to support airborne platforms and ground-based systems across multiple programs. This opportunity requires individuals who can perform key system lifecycle development activities, including requirements development, analysis , system design, integration, and verification/validation of mission systems. Candidates should be self-motivated and willing to work in a fast-paced environment as part of a dynamic and growing development team.

    Key phases of the Systems engineering process include:

    • System and sub - system requirements analysis, definition, and decomposition
    • System and sub - system design and development
    • System and sub - system integration , verification, and validation


    Primary Responsibilities:

    • Capture, analyze, decompose, and trace System requirements
    • Develop and verify test procedures at the system and sub-system levels
    • P lan project level work and meet schedule, cost, and performance goals
    • M anage program technical risks by evaluating requirements and design aspects.
    • I nteract with a cross-functional team of (including, but not limited to) E ngineers , Engineering leaders, Program Managers , Business Developers , Finance , Quality, and Production
    • Understand and support the manufacturing build, test, quality, and customer acceptance review processes
    • Display s trong oral and written communication skills
    • Represent S ystems engineering team at internal and external customer meetings
    • Serve as a liaison between functional discipline groups and internal and external customers


    • Travel occasionally to support program requirements


    Qualifications/Experience needed:

    • Typically requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) unless prohibited by local laws/regulations and minimum 5 years prior relevant experience or an Advanced Degree in a related field and minimum 3 years of experience or in absence of a degree, 9 years of relevant experience
    • Active and transferable U.S. government issued security clearance is required prior to start date.
    • Experience working with system/sub-system requirements
    • Experience in system /sub-system design definition
    • Experience with Model - Based System Engineering (MBSE) concepts and tools

    The salary range for this role is 77,000 USD - 163,000 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels. RTX considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role, function and associated responsibilities, a candidate's work experience, location, education/training, and key skills.
