Aerospace Engineer researches and develops structural engineering specifications for aerospace products, parts, or associated operations to improve the efficiency and reliability of aerospace systems. Analyzes results of stress tests on various craft and missile parts to determine material durability and tolerances. Being an Aerospace Engineer oversees flight tests of prototypes and analyzes resulting data to validate flight characteristics and identify necessary improvements. Conducts calculations and utilizes simulations to evaluate aerodynamics, structural integrity, propulsion efficiency, and the effect on fuel consumption of new or existing materials. Additionally, Aerospace Engineer utilizes CAE, 3-D, and digital modeling to create detailed plans and specifications to support production. Assists quality assurance and purchasing teams with the evaluation of new or existing suppliers, products and materials, or technologies. Understands and complies with all federal regulatory requirements and specifications. Requires a bachelor's degree. Typically reports to a manager. The Aerospace Engineer work is closely managed. Engineers in the Propulsion Group focus on the design, qualification, testing, and production of multi-mode air-breathing engines. These positions require engineers to engage in the full breadth of the development programme in a very hands-on environment. Tasks will include design, procurement, inspection, assembly, testing, maintenance, analysis - the engineers will interact at all levels of development. Testing will involve LH2 and LO2 and other cryogenic medium, and multi-fuel turbine engines. Must be willing to work with a very lean team of Propulsion engineers and on an aggressive testing programme. These positions can be very demanding in terms of time allocation.
