    Duration: 3 month contract-to-hire

    Reports To: Director of Emergency Management

    Position Type: Full-Time/Contract

    Job Summary

    Seeking a skilled and experienced Project Manager to lead the update of the Multi-jurisdictional Hazard Mitigation Plan in accordance with the Disaster Mitigation Act of 2000. The successful candidate will coordinate with multiple stakeholders, manage the project timeline, and ensure compliance with federal, state, and local regulations.

    Key Responsibilities

    • Plan Development and Update:
      • Lead the review and update of the existing Multi-jurisdictional Hazard Mitigation Plan.
      • Ensure the plan meets the requirements of the Disaster Mitigation Act of 2000 and any other relevant regulations.
    • Stakeholder Coordination:
      • Engage with local government entities, emergency services, community organizations, and the public to gather input and ensure collaboration.
      • Facilitate regular meetings and workshops with stakeholders to discuss progress and gather feedback.
    • Project Management:
      • Develop and manage project timelines, ensuring milestones are met.
      • Monitor and report on project progress, making adjustments as necessary to stay on schedule and within budget.
    • Regulatory Compliance:
      • Ensure the updated plan aligns with federal, state, and local regulations.
      • Prepare necessary documentation and reports for regulatory approval and audits.
    • Risk Assessment and Mitigation Strategies:
      • Conduct comprehensive risk assessments to identify potential hazards affecting the county.
      • Develop and incorporate effective mitigation strategies into the plan.
    • Communication:
      • Provide clear and regular communication to the Board of Commissioners and other stakeholders on project status and key developments.
      • Develop public outreach strategies to inform and educate the community about the hazard mitigation plan.
    Qualifications

    • Bachelor’s degree in Emergency Management, Public Administration, Urban Planning, or equivalent experience.
    • Proven experience in project management, particularly in hazard mitigation or emergency management.
    • Strong understanding of the Disaster Mitigation Act of 2000 and related regulations.
    • Excellent organizational, communication, and leadership skills.
    • Ability to work collaboratively with diverse groups and manage multiple priorities.
    • Proficiency in project management software and tools.

    Preferred Qualifications

    • Master’s degree in a related field.
    • PMP or other project management certification.
    • Experience working with government agencies or non-profit organizations in hazard mitigation planning.
