Airframe and Engine Mechanic maintains, repairs, and troubleshoots aircraft components to ensure safe and reliable performance. Conducts routine servicing to optimize the lifetime of aircraft airframe and engine components according to internal procedures, guidelines, and technical handbooks. Being an Airframe and Engine Mechanic utilizes a variety of tools and equipment to diagnose and troubleshoot mechanical issues and determine malfunctioning parts of aircraft engines and assemblies. Follows company protocols to maintain safety, cleanliness, and organization within the hangar or workshop. Additionally, Airframe and Engine Mechanic recommends part changes or adjustments to ensure compliance with all federal aviation regulations, standards, and specifications. Maintains accurate records of services and procedures performed and documents and reports issues, concerns, and unusual wear or damage of parts. Requires a high school diploma. Requires FAA Airframe (A) and Powerplant (P) Mechanic License. Typically reports to a supervisor. The Airframe and Engine Mechanic works under moderate supervision. As a world-class manufacturer of pressure washers and outdoor power equipment, we are in need of Small Engine Technicians in the R&D lab who can continue producing the highest quality products on the market.
Primary Purpose:
Provide technical support for research and development through testing and product evaluation.
Job Description:
· Set up, run and monitor testing of small engines.
· Oversee performance and life testing of products.
· Coordinate use of a wide variety of test equipment.
· Conduct product evaluations to verify compliance with product specifications.
· Gather and document all test data and report on test results.
· Evaluate and maintain test equipment, water system and lab supplies.
· Maintain a clean, organized work area.
· Evaluate line-rejected engines to determine the failure cause and determine if root cause is a warranty issue; and if so, document the failure and control the paperwork to return the engines to an authorized warranty center and receive them back into stock or receive credit if appropriate.
· Work towards becoming an authorized service center so FNA can do its own warranty repairs.
· Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
· Ability to use simple and complex test equipment.
· Possess good mechanical skills and aptitude with small engines.
· Pass in-house blueprint reading and shop math test.
· Good oral and written communication skills; ability to work well with others.
· Ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously.
· General computer knowledge with spreadsheet and word processing programs preferred.
· Ability to read/interpret documents.
· Basic electrical experience.
Education/Certification:
High school diploma or GED required.
Other Duties as Assigned:
Other duties could include working in other areas to provide support during absences or shortage of staff.
Equipment Used:
Testing Station, gas/oil vacuum, computer, forklift, automated power lift stations, box hoist, pallet jack, box knife, and assorted hand tools.
Working Conditions:
Extensive walking, standing, and/or climbing; heavy lifting and carrying, stooping, bending, kneeling, and reaching. Work outside and inside; work around machinery with moving parts; work around moving objects or vehicles; exposure to dampness and humidity; exposure to slippery and uneven surfaces.
Safety:
· Interpret company policies for workers and enforce safety regulations.
· Initiate and maintain proper and necessary safety equipment as prescribed by law.
· Operate tools, equipment, and machinery according to prescribed safety procedures.
· Follow established safety procedures and techniques and perform job duties including lifting, climbing, etc.
· Correct unsafe conditions in work area and report any conditions that are not correctable to supervisor immediately.
