Determines and evaluates their applications to scientific study. Being an Animal Scientist requires a degree in animal science. May be expected to have an advanced degree in area of specialty with 0-2 years of experience. Additionally, Animal Scientist has knowledge of commonly-used concepts, practices, and procedures within a particular field. Relies on instructions and pre-established guidelines to perform the functions of the job. Works under immediate supervision. Job description
Seeking a part time Registered Veterinary Technician to join our highly reputable team! We have the potential to grow and are looking for the right person to join the exciting environment of our privately owned mixed animal practice.
We welcome the skills of an experienced technician, while also offering an open door to someone new in the field- kindly offering mentoring.
JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Interact with clients to gain patient history; answer questions; educate about care, immunization protocol, and procedures; schedule appointments; fill prescriptions and discuss administration and side effects
- Perform suture removals, nail trims, fluid therapy, lab collection, dental scaling/polishing
- Draw up and administer vaccines and injections
- Submit lab samples and evaluate lab work
- Prepare patients for surgery and monitor recoveries
- Assist doctors with animal holding, euthanasia procedures, surgical instrument handling, surgical patient monitoring, positioning patients for xray, care of puppies/kittens during c-section
Schedule:
- Approximately 20 hours flexibly scheduled during our work week of Mon,Wed,Fri 8am-5pm; Tues,Thurs 8am-5:30pm; Sat 8am-12pm. Presently there is a need for Thursdays
- Must be available 2 Saturdays per month
- Willingness to trade shifts or cover for coworkers taking time off is appreciated
License/Certification Requirements:
- Licensed Veterinary Technician through Ohio Veterinary Medical Board
