    Job Summary:


    GENERAL SCOPE OF WORK/RESPONSIBILITIES: This position is a three-way split (65% research, 25% teaching, and 10% extension). The successful candidate will be expected to conduct research with goats, hair sheep and/or beef cattle in the LU-SL/SAAS. The successful candidate will be expected to develop a nationally and internationally recognized research program in basic and/or applied animal breeding and genetics field. The incumbent is expected to procure extramural funds for support of a vibrant research program, and collaborate with other scientists on varied research of interest. The individual is expected to teach undergraduate and graduate level courses in his/her area of expertise, supervise student workers, and mentoring undergraduate and graduate students. The successful candidate is also expected to participate in extension programs.

    Position Qualifications:


    QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE: A PhD in Animal Science or closely related discipline is required. Profound knowledge and experience in animal breeding, molecular breeding, animal genetics, quantitative genetics, biological informatics, or molecular biology is required. The incumbent should have a demonstrated interest in cattle, goats and (or) hair sheep with a strong background in ruminant research. The incumbent must have a demonstrated ability to conduct research appropriate for publication in peer-reviewed journals. The incumbent should be knowledgeable in methods of data handling and statistical analyses used in animal science research. The person must be willing to teach in relevant areas and participate in extension programs. The successful candidate will be expected to have considerable skills in oral and written communications. Capacity to work cooperatively with others for successful teamwork is necessary.
