Supervisor Job Description

PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Review financial statements and supporting schedules prepared by clients and staff accountants for suitability of presentation and adequacy of disclosures.

• Assumes full responsibility for directing engagements, including scheduling, and assigning staff based on their knowledge and capabilities, while seeking the advice of the manager or partner in charge.
• Review the client’s internal controls, management performance, and budget, making recommendations.
• Supervise senior and staff accountants’ daily work for completeness and accuracy; evaluate their performance.
• Assist in resolving client accounting, tax and auditing problems as they arise.
• Support staff member in training and offer guidance, direction and constructive criticism of workpapers.
• Tax department supervisor – plan and review staff-prepared tax returns covering tax matters as necessary, prior to formal tax review.
• Prepare more complex individual and business tax returns following reporting requirements.
• Conduct tax research to further the accountant’s knowledge of complex reporting issues.

REQUIRED SKILLS & QUALITIES:

• Bachelor’s or higher degree in Accounting
• Strong understanding of accounting theory
• CPA is required
• 4 years public accounting experience
• Highly detail oriented and organized in work
• Ability to meet assigned deadlines in a timely manner
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with a customer service focus
• Ability to work independently with minimal daily direction from manager to accomplish objectives
• Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and Word and the use of QuickBooks
• Ability to work cooperatively and collaboratively with all levels of employees, management, and external agencies to maximize performance, creativity, problem solving, and results.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: From $70,000.00 per year
