Assistant Athletic Director - Academic Compliance manages academic counseling unit for a university/college's athletic program. Ensures compliance with NCAA and conference rules and regulations regarding academics. Being an Assistant Athletic Director - Academic Compliance advises athletes on academic decisions including course loads and schedules, major declarations, and degree progress. Serves as a representative between the athletic program and prospective student athletes regarding academics. Additionally, Assistant Athletic Director - Academic Compliance requires a bachelor's degree. Typically reports to a institutional officer. The Assistant Athletic Director - Academic Compliance manages subordinate staff in the day-to-day performance of their jobs. True first level manager. Required Qualifications (as evidenced by an attached resume):
Bachelor's degree (foreign equivalent or higher). Two (2) years of full-time experience at the collegiate level in the area of Athletic Performance and/or Strength and Conditioning. In lieu of college level experience, a combination of three (3) years of full-time experience at the high school, college, club, professional or national team level may be considered. Current certification of either C.S.C.S. (Certified Strength & Conditioning Specialist) or S.C.C.C. (Strength & Conditioning Coach Certified).
Preferred Qualifications:
Master's degree (foreign equivalent or higher) in Exercise Science or related field. Previous experience with a Division I Athletic Program. Supervision of student staff, interns, and/or graduate assistants. Experience in administrative responsibilities in the field of performance (e.g. team scheduling, budget preparation & administration, facility usage, public relations, fundraising, community service and other daily operations for the program). Experience creating team workout plans. Current First Aid Certification. Current CPR Certification. Current AED Certification. Understanding of NCAA Compliance Rules (played a Division I, II or III sport, coached in collegiate athletics or as a staff member in a collegiate athletic program).
Brief Description of Duties:
The Assistant Director of Athletic Performance will work with specific sports as assigned by the Assistant AD for Athletic Performance to develop the physical qualities necessary to compete at the Division I level. Additional responsibilities will include designing a program customized to each sport's specific needs, maintenance of varsity weight training facility, coordination and cooperation with athletic training staff and general administrative duties. Other duties as assigned by Assistant AD for Athletic Performance.
Special Notes:
This is a full-time appointment. FLSA Exempt position, not eligible for the overtime provisions of the FLSA. Minimum salary threshold must be met to maintain FLSA exemption.
In addition to the employee's base salary, this position is eligible for $3,087 UUP annual location pay, paid biweekly.
Evening and weekend work will be required at times.
