Assistant Campus Recreation Director administers and promotes all non-varsity, club (intramural) sports and wellness program. Plans and organizes campus-wide recreational programs for all students, faculty, and staff. Being an Assistant Campus Recreation Director may supervise student staff. The Activity/Recreation Assistant is responsible for planning and implementing the Programs therapeutic patient activities and assisting patients with daily living activities.
Essential Job Functions
Respects patient rights and organizational ethics
Assists in planning and implementing the Programs Activity Therapy Program, including planning of daily events, special events and providing in-services for other staff participating in the therapy program
Assists with diversional therapy program including planning and coordination of all out-trips and arranging for guest speakers
Assists with group therapy sessions, displays good theoretical knowledge of group principles and good group techniques
Assists with assessments, group and individual treatment as directed
Under supervision may complete therapy evaluations in a prescribed time frame
Completes progress notes in a timely and high-quality fashion
Conducts therapy practice within defined standards of care
Participates in multidisciplinary planning sessions as appropriate
Participates as an active member of the interdisciplinary team
Attends to patient personal needs (oral hygiene, toileting, bathing, dressing, transferring, etc.) as required.
Escorts and monitors patients during admissions, transfers and discharges; and provide line-of-sight or one-to-one support to patients as ordered by the physician
Checks and documents luggage and personal belongings upon admission; maintain patient property list
Regularly observes and record patients behaviors, temperature, pulse, respiration, blood pressure and weight
Monitors and documents patients food and fluid intake; feeding patients as required
Completes and document 15 minute (or less) visual checks on patients per unit/hospital policy
Insures patient dignity and respect patient values
Performs clerical duties including, but not limited to making patient charts, copying forms, filing, ordering supplies, etc.
Ability to work flexible hours depending on program needs
Communicates effectively with other professional and support staff to achieve positive patient outcomes
Participates as a member of the Referral Development Team. Effectively participates in the referral development process
Maintains activity therapy supplies and equipment in an orderly and safe manner
Practices hospital and departmental policies and procedures, objectives, quality improvement program, safety, environmental and infection control standards
Displays a working knowledge of available community therapeutic resources
Actively involved in measuring patient performance; communicates results and trends to supervisor
Provides feedback to supervisor on an ongoing basis in regards to concerns, improvements, changes, etc.
Attends Unit and Hospital meetings as directed
Identifies areas needing improvement and utilizes the facility performance improvement process. Actively participates in department processes as requested
Enhances professional growth and development of self and others through participation in educational programs, in-service meetings and workshops. Keeps up to date on professional literature
Ensures confidentiality of all information encountered
Maintains professional interactions with peers, senior management, and staff through effective written and verbal communications
Assists with ambulating and lifting patients as needed
Complete and maintain SECURE Training
Checks Horizon and Hospital email daily and responds timely
Other duties as assigned
