Being an Assistant Pastry Chef follows all applicable guidelines and regulations for food handling and safety. Maintains a clean and orderly workstation and kitchen equipment. Additionally, Assistant Pastry Chef typically requires a high school diploma or equivalent. Typically reports to a supervisor. The Assistant Pastry Chef works under moderate supervision. Summary
Hires, trains, manages and coaches the pastry and baking team. Provide a quality product that is timely, fresh and meets quantity needs of banquets and restaurants. To work directly with the Executive Chef to maintain and improve the culinary operation. Must be a liaison with all departments within the hotel. Skills and knowledge to include baking/pastry education, cost control, communication skills, training skills and knowledge of all pastry/baking related tasks, computer skills, organizational skills, guest contact and staff management knowledge.

Qualifications
To be considered for this role the candidate should possess the following:
Minimum two years’ work experience as Pastry Chef or 4 years as Assistant Pastry Chef / Pastry Lead in a hotel; preferably with experience in luxury international brands
Kitchen production qualifications specializing in Pastry.
Well-developed kitchen management and menu planning skills
Comprehensive knowledge of kitchen hygiene practices and work health and safety standards
