    Summary of Position:
    The Assistant Director assists with the overall day-to-day management of the university’s conduct system and in leading the efforts to educate students about community standards of conduct. Supervised by the Director of Student Conduct, the Assistant Director assists with investigation and adjudicating all student misconduct violations of the Student Conduct Code.

    Two or more years of work experience in adjudicating student conduct incidents is preferred.

    Experience in adjudicating student conduct incidents with a restorative justice framework.

    Essential Duties/Responsibilities:
    Assist with the day-to-day implementation and operation of the student conduct process.

    Serve as a university conduct administrator/case manager, reviewing, investigating, adjudicating, and managing conduct cases, including serious violations that lead to suspension or dismissal from the university for students and student organizations.

    Conduct informational & investigative meetings, and conduct conferences for students or student groups who are referred for alleged policy violations.

    Ensure accurate, consistent correspondence is produced pertaining to student disciplinary cases.

    Collaborate with campus partners and other stakeholders to provide a comprehensive menu of educational and developmental resources for sanctioning.

    Assist in the development and implementation of a full spectrum of conflict resolution options, including conflict coaching, facilitated dialogue, mediation, conciliation, and restorative practices.

    Establish and maintain effective partnerships with key stakeholders, including but not limited to Office of Dean of Student Life, Public Safety, Title IX, Equal Opportunity, Athletics, Housing and Residential Life, General Counsel, Academic Partners, and Counseling Center.

    Facilitate outreach, awareness programs, presentations, and educational opportunities for students and their families, faculty, and staff, including but not limited to academic ethics and conduct system; student ethical behavior; student rights and responsibilities; decision making; community responsibilities; and conflict resolution.

    Assist with data tracking to contribute to the assessment of the conduct processes, and report data as requested.

    Demonstrate knowledge of university policies, current state/federal laws related to student conduct including FERPA, Title IX, VAWA, and the Clery Act.

    Assist in the production of University documents, such as manuals, forms, publications, and/or reports.

    Represent Student Conduct and Student Affairs on committees, and in general, to the campus community; participates in professional associations and seminars, as appropriate.

    Manage conduct conferences in a manner that is in compliance with University Policy, state and federal laws, and best practices of the profession.

    Assist in maintaining accurate student conduct records including appeal deadlines, assigned outcome due dates, overdue cases, as well as placing and removing registration holds on student accounts for overdue outcomes.

    Develop creative ways to assess processes, services, and programs provided by the Office of Student Conduct.

    Serve as a liaison to Housing and Residence Life staff who serve as Conduct Case Managers, and assist in the oversight of their conduct caseload.

    Stay up-to-date on local, statewide, and national issues, best practices, and legislation that may impact student conduct matters.

    Seek out and participate in annual training on how to conduct investigation and hearing processes that protect the safety of victims on the issue of dating violence, domestic violence, sexual assault, and stalking.

    Serve as an Investigator in non-criminal complaints, including student organizations and Title IX.

    Utilize conduct software to maintain conduct records and track educational outcome due dates.

    Provide consultation on issues of academic misconduct, student conduct, and civility issues for faculty and staff.

    Provide confidential consultation, within the boundaries of being a campus security authority and responsible employee, for students with difficulties, questions, and/or concerns regarding sexual assault, stalking situations, physical assault, harassment, and other matters.

    Assist with the coordination and facilitation of training and professional development for Conduct Case Managers and other University community members.

    Provide leadership for the Office of Student Conduct as a backup to the Director of Student Conduct in their absence.

    Have a comprehensive understanding of the Family Education Rights Privacy Act and maintain confidential student information regarding conduct incidents.

    Develop and assist with a variety of programming efforts for the Office of Student Conduct and the Division of Student Affairs.
    Assist and support in the development, revision, and administration of the Code of Student Community Standards on an annual basis.

    Perform duties as a campus security authority and responsible employee.

    Demonstrates an understanding of diversity, equity, and inclusion, especially in working relationships with students, faculty, staff and community members.

    Any other duties assigned within the position classification area.

    Marginal Duties/Responsibilities:
    Reports directly to the Director of Student Conduct. Responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of designated information. Performs all duties in compliance with applicable University policies and procedures and state and federal requirements.

    Supervises all department personnel as well as the student conduct responsibilities of full-time residence hall directors in the absence of the Director of Student Conduct. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with University policies and applicable laws.

    Skills and Abilities:
    Strong writing and verbal communication skills.

    Knowledge of federal laws, state laws, and mandates including Title IX, Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act, the Jeanne Clery Act, and the Drug-Free Schools Act.

    Demonstrated ability to work independently, exercise discretion and mature judgment and manage multiple priorities at once.

    Demonstrated experience in collaborating effectively and facilitating positive working relationships with students, faculty, staff, and external constituents in a university setting.

    Demonstrated commitment to inclusion and equity within a diverse organization, team, or campus community.

    Effective communication skills.

    Strong organization and time management skills.

    Maintain the highest levels of confidentiality with all student academic and nonacademic records.
