Oglethorpe University, a small liberal arts college in metropolitan Atlanta, seeks to hire a Tenure track Assistant Professor of Chemistry to begin in August 2024. Responsibilities include teaching, service to the university, and supporting an undergraduate research program. The new hire will teach introductory level courses (general chemistry and/or organic chemistry) in addition to upper-level courses in their area of expertise. Candidates will also be expected to teach in Science and Human Nature, an interdisciplinary course for non majors that serves as the final class of our unique CORE general education program. We welcome applicants with experience in all subdisciplines of chemistry, but preference will be given to candidates who could offer courses in analytical or biochemistry. Successful applicants will have experience with undergraduate teaching, a commitment to inclusive pedagogy, and familiarity with innovative teaching methods, such as active learning and course embedded research.
