JOB PURPOSE:
The Department of Plant Sciences in the College of Agriculture, Life Sciences, and Natural Resources at the University of Wyoming is seeking applicants for an Assistant Professor, Extension Specialist position in Forage Agronomy. This is a fiscal year, tenure-track faculty position with appointments in Extension, research, and teaching.
In Wyoming, forages provide the highest economic impact of all field crops grown, with total hay production valued at 400 million dollars annually. Over 1 million acres of hay are harvested each year in Wyoming, approximately half of which is alfalfa. Abundant high quality forage production in Wyoming plays a critical role in the state's agricultural economy and beyond.
The successful candidate for this position will provide leadership in state-wide Extension integrated with a robust, relevant research program on forage crops; as well as teach an upper division course (Forage Crop Science, PLNT 4700/5700) once per year.
