If this sounds appealing to you, then consider our Instrumentation - Automation Specialist opportunity. The position is based in Pasadena, CA. 

     

    We are seeking a motivated instrumentation technician who wishes to further develop their Automation skillset. While utilizing your strong technician skills, you will be provided with training to develop, test, and maintain a complete Automated Control System. This includes interrupting electrical schematics, P&IDs, network diagrams, and I/O lists, as well as programming PLCs, and HMIs, developing databases, and GUIs, and programming other related control system components. Other duties may include developing related control system documentation including control panel drawings, control narratives, and test plans. You will also provide field start-up, testing, and commissioning support. 

      

     This position will be 100% onsite. 

     

     

    Your Role: 

    ·         Install, calibrate, test, and troubleshoot various types of instruments and analyzers contained within indication, control, and process safety systems and ensure the installation adheres to national codes and project specifications. 

    ·         Process/environmental analyzers including gas analyzers measuring H2S and combustion gases and liquid measurements for DO, NO3, NHx, and TSS. 

    ·         Operate handheld test equipment (including multi-meters, pressure calibrators, smart communicators, signal generators, thermocouple/RTD simulators, dead weight testers, meggers, etc.) 

    ·         Research documentation from various sources for proper procedures to perform calibration, make necessary adjustments, and document all values and changes. 

    ·         Interpret specifications, blueprints, loop drawings, and electrical schematics. Redline necessary updates & changes and work with engineering to implement these changes. 

    ·         Participate in computer-based and face-to-face training programs and complete required training. 

    ·         Safely follow all Safety Policies and comply with all site policies and procedures. Perform work with a commitment to Safety and Safe Work Practices. 

     

     

    Qualifications: 

    ·         Education and/or experience as a journeyman in the instrument/electrical trade  

    ·         4 years of Instrument Journeyman level experience preferred. 

    ·         Valid Driver’s License with an acceptable driving record 

    ·         Proficiency in the operation of appropriate tools and diagnostic equipment to calibrate, install, troubleshoot, repair, replace, and test instrument loops, electrical circuits, and equipment. 

    ·         Ability to network interfacing of instruments utilizing communication software with a laptop  

    ·         Experience with Instrumentation including flow, temperature, pressure, and level transmitters, gauges, motor control circuits, VFDs, electronic control valves and actuators, and programmable logic controllers. 

    ·         Experience in inspection, calibration, documentation, troubleshooting, and repair of electrical equipment and plant instrumentation/analyzer systems within the wastewater treatment plant. 

    ·         Ability to work overtime and weekends as required to support plant startup, testing, and commissioning activities. 

    ·         Proficiency in Microsoft Office software, to include Word, Excel, and Outlook. 

    ·         Ability to program and maintain various PLCs preferred. 

    ·         Position requires periodic travel, approximately 50% to/from Suffolk, VA 

     

     

    Physical Requirements 

    ·         This position may require protracted or irregular hours depending on the season and the project. 

    ·         Operate a computer and a variety of power tools and electronic testing instruments.  

    ·         Traverse over rough terrain, and constantly position self to operate miscellaneous instrumentation equipment, while wearing a variety of Personal Protective equipment. 

    ·         Occasionally ascend/descend ladders when inspecting automation equipment. 

    ·         May be subject to exposure to extreme outdoor weather conditions, hazardous materials, confined spaces, or heights. 

    ·         May handle and move items up to 50 lbs for various needs.  

    Salary Range: $63,000 - $92,000 DOE
