Behavioral Health Director oversees the study and treatment of patients with emotional, mental, or psychological disorders. Develops, implements, and updates strategic initiatives, programs, and services. Being a Behavioral Health Director manages and directs the operations of behavioral health services. Uses knowledge of behavioral health research and trends to ensure the department's practices are up-to-date and effective. Additionally, Behavioral Health Director establishes training programs and supports and supervises staff. Ensures all behavioral health operations comply with clinical guidelines and regulations. Requires an advanced degree in psychology or related field. Typically reports to top management. The Behavioral Health Director manages a departmental sub-function within a broader departmental function. Creates functional strategies and specific objectives for the sub-function and develops budgets/policies/procedures to support the functional infrastructure. To be a Behavioral Health Director typically requires 5+ years of managerial experience. Deep knowledge of the managed sub-function and solid knowledge of the overall departmental function. Senior Director Of Clinical Operations- Behavioral Health

  • As the Senior Director of Clinical Operations for Swope Health's Behavioral Health department, you will lead a team of dedicated providers that care for the members of our community that need it the most. The Senior Director of Clinical Operations is responsible for providing oversight to the behavioral health clinical programs to include the Community Psychiatric Rehabilitation Program, Outpatient therapy services, Substance Use Disorder Services, Residential Services, and Crisis Services. The Senior Director provides leadership to program director level staff and specialty program staff, assisting in regulatory program administration, compliance and providing substantial financial management and input at the department and program level.

    In your role you will: 

    • Support program directors recruiting, reviews, staff deployment/workload balancing, career progression.
    • Partner with EVP of BH to seek out, develop and implement new program aligning with Organization strategic plan.
    • Assist the EVP of BH to monitor all department level staff activities according to SHS, JCAHO, CARF, DMH, HRSA and other applicable policies.
    • Collaborate with staff managers and help them evaluate all programs and activity performance to maintain competency in all organization policies.
    • Participate in various community outreach activities.
    • Prepare program leaders to meet strategic goals and objectives and evaluate progress and effectiveness of staff toward those goals.
    • Participate in various alliances to represent Swope Health Services to include but not limited to Metro Council, Missouri Behavioral Health Coalition, integrated care alliances with behavioral health partners and local funders.
    • Administer required day-to-day functions for department and coordinate with VP to prepare all long- term strategies to achieve all goals and evaluate performance of various programs.
    • Develop and maintain knowledge on potential opportunities for further program development. Manage communication with those entities and prepare strategies to recommend to the leadership team.

    Successful Candidates Will Have: 

    • Master’s Degree or above in social work, psychology, education or related field.
    • Five years or more experience working with individuals with severe and persistent mental illness preferred.
    • Five years or more of mid-level and senior level supervisory responsibilities.
    • Active knowledge of JCAHO, CARF, Missouri DMH programs and policies.
