Summary:
The Engineering Supervisor is responsible for all aspects of directing an engineering group consisting of mechanical and electrical/controls engineers. This includes ensuring all employees are complying with established engineering methods and policies along with evolving methods and policies to suit KDF Technologies business changes. This is a working-supervisor position that also designs, and develops all aspects of equipment and machinery. They apply knowledge of engineering principles to design products such as vacuum chambers, sub-assemblies, systems, robots, machines, etc. They may be involved in fabrication, operation, application, installation, and/or repair of products. The Engineering Supervisor needs to be familiar with a variety of the field's concepts, practices, and procedures. You will rely on extensive experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals. Perform a variety of tasks while leading and directing the work of others. A wide degree of creativity and latitude is expected. In addition, this position will interface with Sales, Product Management, R&D, Engineering, Manufacturing, Assembly, and Test & Service to effectively lead the development efforts of our Deposition Equipment.
Daily Responsibilities-
Direct and monitor staff in execution of all tasks

Evaluate new projects for risk
-
Participate in project review meetings, Kick-Off Meetings, and Design Review meetings.

Plan new projects
-
Evaluate project status compared to plan (on-time and on-budget)
-
Maintain dates, hours budgets, and % complete
-
Address issues that arise during manufacturing, looking for root causes and solving the underlying problem
-
Continuous Improvement of processes and products
-
Schedule resources and prioritize new projects based on business needs
-
Ultimately responsible for the quality of the group’s output
-
Other duties as assigned
Weekly Responsibilities-
Report on project status and department loading at weekly meeting
-
Audit compliance to department and company work instructions and forms
Monthly Responsibilities-
Evaluate staff strengths, weaknesses, and performance
-
Plan and execute continuous training and staff development activities
-
Mentor staff in technical and business areas
-
Log employee progress, positive and negative
-
Report on continuous improvement projects and status at monthly meeting
-
Report on department performance metrics at monthly meeting
As Required Responsibilities-
Lead hiring process through resume reviews, interviews, candidate selection and employment offer
-
Evaluate and recommend employee promotions and compensation levels
-
Lead employee progressive discipline process
-
Coordinate resource leveling and expertise between engineering groups
-
Ensure commonality of designs between engineering groups
-
Review KDF Technologies products for safety and agency compliance
-
Promptly act on Corrective Actions and evaluate and solve true root cause not the symptom
-
Support upstream and downstream departments to achieve divisional and corporate goals

Qualifications:
Required-
Degree in engineering or design
-
5 years of experience in product design
-
Experience in design and development of thin film deposition systems preferred.

Strong interpersonal and communication (written and verbal) skills.

Strong leadership skills with successful history of setting goals and leading a diverse team.

Strong analytical skills for planning, forecasting and anticipating production needs and capabilities.

Supervision skills including hiring, motivating, performance feedback and assessment and corrective action and discipline.

Able to manage multiple priorities and adapt to stressful and/or changing situations.
-
Highly organized, self-motivated and able to work independently.
Preferred-
Advanced Degree in engineering or design

Prior supervisor or management experience
