Bookkeeping Manager manages and oversees all the bookkeeping staff. Responsible for the practices and procedures to ensure timely and accurate records and reports. Being a Bookkeeping Manager provides assistance to other financial function: budgets, payroll, etc. May require a bachelor's degree. Typically reports to a head of a unit/department. The Bookkeeping Manager supervises a group of primarily para-professional level staffs. May also be a level above a supervisor within high volume administrative/ production environments. Makes day-to-day decisions within or for a group/small department. Has some authority for personnel actions. Responsibilities:
- Process payroll for employees accurately and in a timely manner
- Calculate and track employee hours, overtime, and leave balances
- Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local payroll regulations
- Prepare and distribute payroll reports to management
- Maintain accurate records of employee information, including tax withholding and deductions
- Reconcile payroll discrepancies and resolve any issues or errors
- Collaborate with HR to ensure accurate employee data and updates
- Assist with year-end payroll activities, including W-2 preparation
Qualifications:
- Previous experience as a Payroll Clerk or in a similar role
- Strong understanding of payroll processes and procedures
- Proficient in using payroll software such as QuickBooks
- Knowledge of general ledger accounting and balance sheet reconciliation
- Familiarity with accounts payable processes and general ledger reconciliation
- Ability to calculate debits, credits, and financial reports accurately
- Excellent attention to detail and strong organizational skills
- Strong communication skills, both written and verbal
- Ability to maintain confidentiality of sensitive employee information
