  • Job Summary

The city of Fort Collins is seeking a licensed Journeyman Electrician to join our building inspection team. The City’s building inspectors pride themselves in providing first class service to our residents. Working with a team of other inspectors, you will be tasked with helping to ensure code compliance on various projects across the city. These inspections are not limited to just electrical, including HVAC, structural, plumbing, health, safety, and other areas. Your day will consist largely of performing inspection activities, however there will be a fair amount of “office time” spent reviewing plans, preparing reports, documenting findings, and communicating with contractors and developers. This is a dynamic position that will take you all over the city of Fort Collins in a city provided vehicle.

The idea candidate will have a Journeyman Electrician license (required for electrical inspectors in the state of Colorado) and a variety of experience working with both residential and commercial projects. Additional knowledge of building code is a plus, as this position will require inspections outside of strictly electrical. This position will require a keen eye for detail and the ability to articulate findings by written report. The inspector is required to be available Monday through Friday so you can keep your weekends free. If you love electrical work but want to deviate from supervising a crew or pulling wire this is a great opportunity to stay in the electrical field and take an important role serving the community!
