    About the Department

    The Career Development Office (CDO) at Michigan Ross delivers world-best career services to its members. This is done by managing internal and external relationships and processes to develop the career search skills of over 4500 Michigan Ross students across seven different degree programs and by maximizing the success of the career search interaction among students, alumni, and the employers who would benefit from hiring them.

    Job Summary

    Drawing on industry expertise, the Associate Director will engage MBA students, by creating a set of integrated experiences designed to prepare students for a successful job search. The Associate Director will engage with the relevant communities and members, including student clubs, alumni, faculty, and corporate partners to cultivate student interest and preparedness in the assigned area. You will consult with MBA students looking for opportunities among the following focus areas: Tech (as the primary focus), Careers with Impact (or Social Impact), Entrepreneurship, Startup, Less Traditional career pursuits, and Off-campus search programming efforts and support. . You will contribute to the CDO strategy and direction, collaborates with other MBA Associate Directors to develop content and programming, and reports directly to the Ross Career Development Director, Career Coaching & Education team.

    You Will

    Program Delivery

    • Develop and deliver student programs and workshops to both domestic and international students
    • Draws on industry knowledge, trends, and professional networks to guide relevant programming and promote the exchange of knowledge between the students and alumni, recruiters, faculty, or other subject matter experts to ensure student success.
    • Advise and partners with designated student career clubs to create and provide high-quality career programming.
    • Collaborate with Program Offices to ensure programming is consistent with student and program office needs and expectations.


    Individual & Group Coaching

    • Provide coaching services to graduate students, with an emphasis on students in the assigned focus areas.
    • Coaching will include translating self-assessment results; review/editing resumes, LinkedIn profiles, and job search correspondence; advise on search strategy approaches; career transition; and coach on interviewing and negotiation approaches.
    • Leverage personal network to provide one-on-one connections between students and employers/ alumni.
    • Customizes the general career search process for students who are more exploratory in nature to help students to achieve career target clarity faster.


    Content Creation and Student Media

    • Analyze markets and trends as they relate to the job search and career advancement and curates resources and information for students to access online.
    • Develop, implement, and improve CDO print, video, presentation, email, web publications, and structure, and social media communications for assigned population.


    Manage Student Peer Coaches

    • As part of the team, annually trains and oversees designated student Peer Coaches in completing career coaching responsibilities.
    • Collaborate with peer coaches to identify any gaps in career education and opportunities to promote students' success.


    Industry/Company Knowledge And Relationship Management

    • Maintain knowledge of recruitment practices, industry trends, faculty research, alumni base, student clubs, and student needs to remain credible for advising purposes and incorporate Ross alumni and other guests into workshops/ programs.
    • Reach out to alumni corporate recruiters or representatives for expertise; interfaces with corporate recruiters who visit campus through lunches, corporate presentations, club events, and meetings.
    • Collaborate with CDO Employer Relations colleagues on campus recruiting practices and student outcomes.
    • Participate in applicable company recruitment strategy meetings and identify new opportunities.


    You Have

    • Master of Business Administration degree and 5 years overall work experience in a related field or an equivalent combination of work experience and education.
    • Work experience in an MBA Career Coach specialty focus in one of the following areas: Work experience in an MBA Career Coach specialty focus. For this position industry experience in one of the areas is preferred: Technology, Entrepreneurship/ Startup, Emerging Markets, Sustainability, Energy, and Careers with Impact / ESG opportunities for MBAs (such as non-profit, education, corporate social responsibility, etc.). About one-third of our MBA students participate in a job search off campus and this Career Coach will assist this population with their job search strategy.
    • Familiarity with career coaching methods and processes.
    • Experience providing high-quality and engaging presentations and serving a demanding constituency.

    Salary Information: The general salary range for this position is $79,000 - $87,000. You can expect to be paid a great compensation package. Factors used to determine salary include experience, knowledge and skills for the position.
