Carpenter constructs, maintains, and remodels buildings or related structures. Installs, fixes, or modifies all aspects of a building, including walls, ceilings, floors, and stairs, as well as related structures like railings, doors, windows, and air conditioning systems. Being a Carpenter follows blueprints and plans to ensure requirements and specifications are met. Observes all worksite safety procedures and guidelines. Additionally, Carpenter inspects buildings to determine repair that needs to be done. An apprenticeship and/or formal training may be required. Typically requires a high school diploma. Typically reports to a supervisor or manager. The Carpenter works under moderate supervision. Gaining or has attained full proficiency in a specific area of discipline. HOURLY SALARY RANGE: Minimum $15.16, Midpoint $18.58, Maximum $22.00
Primary Purpose:
Under general supervision, perform skilled work in construction, alteration, repair, and installation of fixtures, buildings, and structures. Maintain district structures and furniture in attractive and safe condition.
Qualifications:
Education/Certification
High school diploma or GED
Valid Texas driver’s license
Special Knowledge/Skills:
Knowledge of equipment, materials, methods, practices, and tools used in carpentry
Ability to use hand and power tools
Ability to follow written and verbal instruction
Ability to read blueprints and diagrams
Ability to measure and perform mathematical computations
Ability to work independently
Experience:
One year experience and/or training or equivalent combination of education and experience; clear driving record
